VanSant has a clear chance at the National Team competing against Robinson, and Hodge, who would be attempting to regain her form. As far as the system goes, as the PAC 12 Scholar Athlete of the Year, I'm sure she can understand "Go Fast", "Find your angles" and "Breathe. Good things will happen."

Krista Vansant goes down as one of the best if not the best at Washington. Even though I love Morrison, and thought she was absolutely fantastic. Paige Benjamin as well!!!

Robinson gained a ton of experience this summer. Vansant didn't. That's a pretty huge advantage not even considering the emphasis Karch places on relationships, team identity, culture, blah blah blah. Stepping into that group is probably more difficult than it seems.

Its a big stretch for Vansant almost impossible, but not for Robinson who already knows Karch's system. And is gaining significant experience in international volleyball. Robinson jumped right in, so dont see how it would be near impossible for VanSant. To be honest all Vansant would have to do to be right in the mix would be to outplay Robinson. That sure doesnt seem unfeasible. Assuming Hodge comes back and gets in shape, You have Larson, Hill, Hodge and then probably Robinson. Dont see how Vansant couldnt give Robo at least a run for her money. For some reason I don't see Vansant being a good passer at the next level, which is vital in Karch's system. Robinson, on the other hand..

I think Robinson will still need to make at least one more big jump in her game to compete for a spot. Whatever specific advantage she had within Karch's system will me neutralized or erased with her pro team over the course of the season. Culture wise, edge to VanSant.

Kelsey Robinson is one year ahead of her. I wonder if Vansant has a chance to pass her on the national team. Making the 2016 Olympics roster would be a big stretch for either Robinson or Vansant. The 2020 Olympics roster, however, is a possibility. College hitters need time to develop their passing game. Even today, Vansant will shank more passes than liberos or DSs, and Karsta Lowe isn't allowed to receive serve even when she has rotated to Outside. A few years of international ball will round out these attacking "specialists".

If Vansant gets in the national pipeline, USA hosting the Grand Prix finals next year should be an opportunity. Automatically into the finals, USA doesn't have to send Larson, Foluke, Diietzen, Glass, even Hill halfway round the world to qualify, instead auditioning candidates, including Vansant, if she chooses. And perhaps the greatest passer in USA volleyball history can coach a thing or two. Seems to have helped Hill.

I have really enjoyed watching Krista and she is very deserving of her honors. Also she handles the limelight with grace which I also admire.
IMO of the players that Jim has had at the UW,she has in a lot of ways assumed his volleyball persona of get better everyday more than almost any other player. That mindset enables learning and while there will be a learning curve at the next level she will meet it.

Robinson, on the other hand.. Which reason? Or is this just a "hunch" on your part? Her serve reception has improved every year, to a point that now, of the three in serve reception, she gets served the least. If she wasn't a good passer, opponents would be serving her mercilessly, since she's their primary attacker. I see no reason to believe she wouldn't continue to improve as a pro, in that her practice time would no longer be limited as in college.

as far as the system goes, i feel vansant should have no problem adapting, since UW runs similar system as the national team. good pass, fast offense, etc. certainly hope vansant will make it onto the team.
