My predictions for starters: MH: Haleigh Nelson MH: Tori Blake or Williams (Blake will have the college experience on her side) OH: Kelli Bates OH: Romana Kriskova (if healthy) RS: Taylor Fricano S: Lauren Carlini L: Taylor Morey DS: Amber McDonald (backrow for Fricano) I predict they will be at the top of the BIG along with Nebraska, Penn State, OSU & Illinois My starting line up is fairly different: MH Williams MH Nelson OH: Bates OH: Duello RS: Kriskova L: Morey DS: McDonald for Kriskova or maybe Duello, tbd. with Morgan getting time at Middle and RS. I don't see Blake or Fricano getting much playing time.

Boof, this is the Wisconsin thread if you don't mind.
I think brooklynsport's lineup is closer. I believe Kriskova is more of a right side. As for the spring, I am not sure she plays. Mikaelsen and Thompson didnt after their surgeries.

First I apologize in advance. I was going to wait to start this thread out of respect to the 4 teams still playing. But, I didnt want the PSU/UW thread ger bogged down with talk about next year, so here we are. So, for those living in a cave: lose Chapman, Morales, Kvas, Workman, Mikaelsen, Thompson, Thomas. 3 starters. Gain: Saunders, Williams, Duello, MacDonald, Juley, Morgan Potential starters from that group: Duello, MacDonald, Williams Potential Redshirt: Juley Morgan was also hurt until late in prep. Maybe she would redshirt. So, by position: Rs: Kriskova, Fricano (or Oh) Saunders OH: Bates, Duello S: Carlini, Juley x2 MB: Nelson, Blake, Williams, Morgan DS/L: Morey, MacDonald Discuss. . McDonald is an upgrade for Workman but they need to replace Ito as well. I could see them picking up a walk-on DS this spring. As for scrimmaging this spring Carlini and Juley at Setter Nelson and Blake at MH Bates and Romana at OH Fric and Quinn (manager) at RS Morey and Annemarie Hickey (student asst) at Libero Brittany, Gary and Matt are other staff members who might play, and it while I think several will go pro, I think KT Kvas will likely stick around to graduate this spring.

The spring lineup will have to be: Carlini Setter Nelson MH Blake MH Kriskova OH Bates OH Fricano RS Morey Libero with Erin Juley most likely playing back row for Fricano. So it is really not too off from their potential lineup. Not to mention they return their starting outside, setter, libero and middle people. They will have minimal growing pains plus Kraskura is an incredibly experienced player. That spring lineup is not possible because, from what I remember of the news releases regarding Kriskova's second surgery, she's on a 6-month rehab plan and will not be returning to play until May/June. Unless she has some sort of miracle recovery, she won't be playing in spring tournaments. Unless one of our incoming recruits graduates this month and matriculates in January, we will only have two healthy pin hitters, Bates and Frick. It's possible that a 2015 could enroll early, because Dom and Jules are graduating so their schollies will be free, but I have read nothing about anyone's plans to do so. I wonder whether we will be having any actual spring competition due to our lack of personnel.

Annemarie graduates next weekend, along with Dom and Jules. I don't know whether Anne will stick around as a volunteer assistant, but I'd think she's probably looking around for AC jobs. She's got a year of training under a really quality coaching staff. Kvas and Workman graduate in the spring. I believe Deme does as well. I know Ellen will be here for a 9th semester and graduate in December 2015. I can't remember about Court. They said on senior night that she wants to play pro, but she's also been quoted in the paper saying her volleyball career is over (not sure if she meant college or forever).

I'd look for the lineup next year to be: S-Carlini OH-Duello OH-Bates RS-Kriskova MB-Nelson MB-Williams L-Morey DS-MacDonald
Losing the 4 seniors will hurt--Thomas had an outstanding senior season and was a 'do everything well' kind of player that will not be easy to replace. Chapman was also one of the more underrated players in the nation this year. She wasn't the most terminal outside, but she was incredibly reliable and is very low error. She kept a lot of balls in play that other players would be more error prone with. This allowed Wisconsin to score points with its defense rather than hitting balls out of bounds.
I'd look for Kriskova or Duello to step into these spot. Thomas is a more dynamic player than these two, but I think Duello/Kriskova could add more fire power, giving Wisconsin more terminal hitters on the pins, for better or worse. Look for growing pains with new players, but by the end of the season I think offensively Wisconsin might be better in 2015 on the pins than they were in 2014.
Thompson graduates leaving a void in the middle. She ran a great slide and was very fast pin to pin. Sounds a lot like Tionna Williams, but Williams is taller and might be more athletic. I think Williams will ultimately be an upgrade from Thompson in the middle. I could also see Morgan pushing Nelson for playing time. Nelson had a great year and improved immensely from her freshman campaign, but if there's one thing we learned about Sheff in his 2nd year at UW, he's not afraid to bench an experienced player for a freshman. I haven't seen Morgan play, but she is very highly touted, has great height at 6-5 and might already be a better player offensively than Nelson. I wouldn't be shocked to see Nelson improve, but also battle for her position all year with Morgan. I think Wisconsin will be a much better team in the middle next year.
Defensively, Morales did some very nice things for Wisconsin this year. MacDonald should be able to step in but might not be the same caliber of player as a freshman that Morales was as a senior. I don't think this will make a huge difference for Wisconsin, but if anything I think it will be a slight downgrade.
I'd look for Carlini and Morey to continue improving on the off season, and for Bates to come in ready for a great sophomore season after she made huge strides as a freshman.
I think Wisconsin will be significantly better in the middle next year, as good/if not better with floor defense and setting, and pins are a question mark but I think Wisconsin will more terminal on the outside/rightside, for better or worse. Bright future ahead for Wisconsin after an outstanding season.

BBALLNUT09 - a lot of my exact thoughts.
I've seen Morgan play and i'm very very impressed. I hope she stay healthy and improves during the off season. I understand she needs to work on her defense/blocking, but her attack is very good. she's faster and more athletic than Nelson. It will be interesting to see what happens.
I haven't seen Duello play, i can't find any video on her, if someone has, please post here! I"d love to see what she's like and how athletic she is and how her passing is. I understand she's very good all - around.
do we know if anyone is coming to campus early, this spring?

I dread the day wisconsin fans lose carlini. I predict mayhem and chaos, with a touch of crying I know! What will happen when our setter is a mere mortal like everyone else's? I'm looking forward to watching Hilley and Juley compete for the starting spot in 2017.
