I expect Amber to have a bigger role than helping with the live-tweets! With Kadie, Justine, Albrecht, and Hunter doing most of the passing next year, I expect NU's offense will be more diverse. Amber will probably be able to hit more seams... Curious to know if moving Amber to OH is actually an option for Coach Cook next year or not. It would help our discussions immensely. If Foeke is as good as she is predicted to be, then Amber may find herself in a lot of twitter pictures. What would lend you to think that the Husker offense will be more diverse next year? Nebraska has always been a primarily pin-hitter dominated team, and maybe set a slide to a middle in serve receive. When a match is tight, everything goes to the pin. Nebraska set the middles a bunch in sets 1-3 vs Washington, but almost blew it in the 4th by going exclusively to the pin. They got two big kills from the middles on slides because UW middles had released to NUs OH hitters. What team isn't throwing the majority of sets out to the pins? I don't think there has ever been a NU team as left-dominant as this year's. A lot of that did have to do with Pollmiller, since her default setting was to go to Robinson on the left. She did the same thing to Kadie. When she was feeling tight, she'd go left because that's her best set. With Hunter next year, we should see more attempts to the middle and to the right. Then if they can terminate consistently, we'll see a more diverse attack.

Curious to know if moving Amber to OH is actually an option for Coach Cook next year or not. It would help our discussions immensely. yes...... I can answer that for you. Coach Cook was asked why Amber played RS instead of left this season on his radio show on Tuesday nights on 'Sports Nightly'. He responded by stating this. "Amber played RS on the USA Jr. National Team and excelled on that trip, which really opened up her an opportunity and a role on last years team to compete for that position. She was able to win out that position based on her overall play. Some wonder why not move Amber back to her usual role as an OH, we often answer back; this is where the team needs her. Amber puts up a great block and is one of the leading RS blockers in the country. We do need her to step up and be more of a role player there. We ask of our RS's to garnish at least 3 kills per set. We need her to get big numbers. Also, we tried to avoid the sibling rivalry between her sister Kadie by having them both be OH. However, with our future recruiting Amber might be asked to provide a different role for the team to best increase our chances of a Big 10 Championship. Amber wants to play. She wants to be on the court and I believe she wants to be where the team needs her. Amber's role may change in positions down the road depending on our recruits". The reason this whole, Foecke RS thing came up was because of this comment he made. It might be possible. It also might not be. My opinion is this, Nebraska Needs an All-American RS. Amber's not getting it done there. If Foecke could get us closer to that role, go for it. I believe Hunter can get Haggerty and CiCi to a high level next season, a level where they will fill back in their roles nicely. If this were my team, I would have a heavy competition on the L2 spot between Amber and Fien. Whoever wins that spot between the two, I bet would be a 3rd time All-American next season.

Foecke plays in Iowa's smallest class. I know she averaged 13 points a set in one of their state tournament games. Not saying she wouldn't/couldn't put up similar numbers at a bigger school, but even if Hodson had played HS ball, it'd be hard to replicate the numbers Foecke put down just because of the competition she was up against. Foecke did indeed play in the smallest class in IA but her team played 8 5A schools from the largest class in IA winning against 6 of those teams. Her team also played & beat 5 class 4A schools as well as playing & winning against 3 teams from class 3A. Foecke's team's 4 losses where to two 5A schools & two 2A schools. All four of the teams that beat her school all made it to the state tournament.

When in doubt, go with cilantro. Cilantro is about the most controversial herb on the planet. Many people have a genetic mutation that makes it taste like soap to them. You'll find people either love cilantro or hate it. In otherwords, if Cook were to select an herbal garnish, he would absolutely choose cilantro.

What some of you may be forgetting is that Hunter set for the twins not only while they were in high school but even long before they all arrived in high school together. Hunter should know better than anyone how to set the twins. So I would think both may be better next year than what they were this year when it comes to hitting. Cook also has mentioned that blocking takes longer to learn than any of the other skills. If that is the case will Foecke have good enough blocking skills to start over the middles or Amber if she still plays RS next year.

I think Amber really started to improve her play at the end of the season. She had a good NCAA tournament. Amber will be on the court somehow. RS or OH. who knows. She is my X player. I secretly root for her all the time. She will have a break out season soon.

I got it from sports nightly. Greg Sharpe's radio show on his website. I couldn't find the quote in a google search. I don't understand how you got this quote, unless you listened to it live and wrote down the words by ear. Surely a quote like that has a source, or at least an audio source. On facebook, it says Cook's last appearance on the show was 12/9. Is that when he said this? I believe the quote is from Cook; I'm mostly just wondering when he said this. Thanks.
