As a longtime volleyball fan and a retired club and HS coach from Oklahoma I have to say I was shocked when I heard the VB Final Four would be held in OKC. Three NCAA championships in one calendar year is kind of amazing: vb, wrestling last March (sold out) and the softball college world series (usually sold out but plenty of empty seats depending on the game). I bought tickets for the vb as soon as the location was announced and had great seats, right next to the tv cameras and some Neb fans ("we're for anyone but Texas" ). It is not surprising the upper level was not sold out because you are so far from the court you would have to watch the match on the video screen. Even the Thunder struggles to fill those seats. It was my understanding that the empty midcourt seats during the semis across from the cameras were AVCA member no-shows. I could be wrong. The empty midcourt seats were AVCA member no-shows AND NCAA VIP no-shows. In Seattle, we were not allowed to move down into those empty seats for the second match and the finals. I tried and was kicked out by an observant usher.

It's very annoying when the best seats are saved for VIPs who don't bother to show up, or who are more interested in schmoozing in the stadium pub or somebody's luxury suite than they are in actually watching the match. Happens all the time, because groups like the NCAA would never dream of not saving themselves the very best seats, whether or not they actually intend to sit in them.
One reason I like to sit in General Admission at the UW matches is because I'm surrounded by people who are totally into watching the match. They (like me) come an hour early every match just to get their favorite seats, and even though they aren't reserved I usually sat next to the same people all season long.
