Michigan State is graduating four, not five, out of 18 and has no recruits for 2015. All available scholarships will go to current players.

How would you guys rate the incoming classes? I know Illinois and Nebraska both have really good classes coming in but I don't know much about the others.

Nebraska has a very strong class coming in with 2 very strong hitters in Michaela and Tiani, neither are much for blocking though. The libero (Kenzi) seems to be about average for a D1 prospect, I do not know much about Smith but do know that she has a strong family background in volleyball
Illinois has a very good class with Poulter being an amazing setter - she hits, sets, blocks and serves exceptionally well. She could challenge Carlini for setter of the year for the next 2 years. Bastianelly and Prince are both very good hitters, Bast should only help Staddick get more blocks
I cannot say much about PSU's class, Rivera is on the Puerto Rican youth national team with Minnesota's Daley so in theory should be pretty good. Gorrell is from Canada, again I do not know much about her, she sounds like she is not ready to replace Micha yet but should be in a year or two. Realistically, with PSU's hitters, you could throw anything up though and they will find a way to hit it hard
Purdue I am not impressed with and they did not seem to help themselves for winning close matches. Incoming hitters have pretty low Hit% in high school and all 4 recruits average less than 90% on their serves, for the class they average 85% good serves. Cuttino should at least help to get the ball back on the Purdue side of the net with her blocking
Rutgers as usual is not putting much effort forward
Minnesota has two very strong players coming in, Morgan will replace the outgoing Nora, not really sure why Swenson went to Minn, they already have 3 setters - 2 sophs and a freshman (2014)
Carly Skjodt will only help michigan who has a very young team, they started mostly freshman at the end of the season. Lerg has a strong volleyball family and knows how to win. Crocker was an outstanding player at Grand Ledge who filled in wherever needed, she was a true 6 position player being able ot fill whatever hole was open each week due to injuries
Northwestern as usual did not do a lot to help themselves. Mid America Conference, good class, Big Ten, just no
Indiana only has Kendall Beerman coming in, she is an outstanding player at OH but is strong in all areas.
Maryland only has a libero signed so far and may go the same route as MSU as they currently have 17 players on their roster. The new coaching staff seems to be banking on the future as they already have commintments from 3 strong players in 2016 and Alexis Alden from Cath Mem in Wis for 2017.
Ohio state is bringing in 3 very good hitters with Hughes being a versatile player, she ended her preps with almost 1500 assists and over 1000 kills (also had 400 blocks and 250 aces). Only weakness is a low serving% but then so did Micha Hancock. Appold receives, digs and hits equally well Wickey has a very high hitting percentage.
I do not know much about Iowa's so will reserve comment

I am not including MSU because they do not have any coming in or Iowa because I have no idea what they are doing. Much of the ranking is based on needs as well, not just overall numbers coming in so my uneducated ranking for the recruits would be:
12: Rutgers 11: Maryland 10: Northwestern 9: Purdue 8: Minnesota 7: Michigan 6: Nebraska 5: Indiana 4: PSU 3: Ohio State 2: Illinois 1: Wisconsin

Swenson will most assuredly start for Minnesota.
I believe one of Purdue's incoming freshman (Smith?) was a Gatorade State player of the year.

Swenson will most assuredly start for Minnesota. I believe one of Purdue's incoming freshman (Smith?) was a Gatorade State player of the year. Most likely regarding Swenson, Minn tried to find their setter of the future for much of last year with Schau and Handley splitting time equally although Handley was a very good setter with Syracuse in her freshman year. And yes, Alexa Smith was POY for Colorado, Big ten has 5 State POY (Gatorade) coming in: Skjodt (Mich), Smith (Purdue), Foecke (Neb), Duello (Wis) and Swenson (Minn). Williams (Wis) was also Indiana Coaches POY

Canulii is a ds/Libero and Rivera is the setter but she won't be the starter. I believe she's there as a backup. Weiskersher is the under armour all American who redshirted this year and should be starting setter next year
