Does anyone know if Brandi Donnelly is on a four year scholarship? Curious since most playing Libero don't get awarded with the same level of support as the tall girls.

According to news reports she was promised a scholarship for her freshman, sophomore and senior years. She was not on scholarship for her first semester, the 2014 spring semester. Her other scholarship offer was from D2 U of I Springfield, to play both volleyball and softball. Unbelievable discovery. Much tougher to evaluate defensive specialists.

Hmmmm Is 3 year generous for the Libero position and why would it be split this way?

Thanks for the feedback.
She absolutely should be rewarded for all four years.

Just guessing, but if a scholarship is going to be for less than all four years her senior year would be included as a scholarship year in order to insure that she stays all four years. I don't know how many scholarships are available to the volleyball team, nor do I know how many have been promised. If anyone does have that information, I would be fascinated to know how Hambly has structured his available scholarships and offers. It appears to me that his roster is bigger than what I suspect are available scholarships. I would guess that top 50 players with multiple offers are given four year scholarships, otherwise their offer would not be competitive. Illinois is one of a few but growing number of schools that offers a four year scholarship agreement rather than scholarships that are reviewable and renewable on an annual basis.

Congrats to Jordyn and well deserved. Watching her play club and high school throughout the the years, she is everything and more. Jordyn is not only a great player, but a great person and comes for a very supportive family. Excited to be able to continue to watch her at the collegiate level where I have no doubt she will have a significant impact.

It is weird to have an elite college athlete from a school my high school used to play (and once got its only win against our winless team), but Donnelly is a very good player who was probably under the radar. Credit to Hambly for finding her. Unfortunately for my team and the rest of the Big Ten.

Credit goes to former assistant coach Jayme Gergen whom secured Donnelly and Prince both in her first week on the job. But of course, she is gone now, and therefore Hambly gets the credit.
