What is Stone projected to play? She is listed as an opposite on her club team, but with Johnson coming in I'd assume she is playing middle? That's not new. She played opposite for Vision last year too - more about the needs of the team and being able to get the ball more and playing and hitting 6 rotations. (And they actually effectively ran slides from right back - it was pretty cool). IMO, she is best at middle (and would be our best) and I just don't see Oregon having a bigger need on the right to make her move out of her best position. Agost was a rockstar on the right last year, they've got Johnson coming in, plus Rasmussen is strong from the right and McLaren is a natural opposite so whoever's not L2 can give depth or be a 2nd option in a 6-2. Lauren Page is pretty versatile and even she could switch over if it was too crowded at MB. But then again, it's the Oregon offense, so no matter who lines up in what position everyone is going to hit everything from everywhere - and that's part of the fun.

What do you see as the projected lineup for this team if you had to guess? Hard to project because I'm not sure if the 6-2 or 5-1 will stick. A 5-1 switching setters front and back? (that won't happen - at least I'm pretty sure it won't - but something to throw out there). Benson at libero, Vander Weide at L1, Stone at M1, Agost at OPP and Van Sickle as DS for the L2 I'd feel confident writing down in pen. Rasmussen looks like she's starting caliber right now but I'm waiting to see what a year of college strength training does for McLaren - she's an awfully smooth and smart player. Either could be L2 and would be OPP2 options in a 6-2 if they don't get that job. Johnson obviously another option on the right. Nady I think will start the year opposite Stone at middle but she will need to watch out for Page. Gill has the offensive ability and could get in the mix with some improvement in reading and finishing the block. Oregon hasn't traditionally redshirted healthy players, but they haven't hade depth like this. There are some players for whom the extra year of development would make it worthwhile to forego some action this year for their redshirt senior years. Also, given how uneven the classes are I think it would make sense to spread out the scholarships, though I guess more and more schools are going to the "superclass" models.

The key to success is to buy a lot of bullets right at the start with your initial money, then hunt for your food. Don't bother talking to people or trading along the way unless you really have to, because half the time they will just steal your stuff.
And avoid dysentery.

I guess more and more schools are going to the "superclass" models. Are the schools choosing this, or are the recruits recruiting themselves in groups? You know: a few top recruits decide to go to the same school, so other top recruits want to play with them, and so on.

Scott has got to get better and be able to set the OPP. This is a position (OPP) she has struggled with getting the ball to in system or not. This is a position Oregon has thrived at as a priority hitter position, along with a middle slide. If you watch film from last year you will see why players in the OPP can be marginalized with her struggle to get the ball to them. Setting at Oregon is not what it should be given Plum is the example. Clean that position up and Oregon is a real Natty competitor in the near future.

Ok, after some contemplation, I think the best lineup for Oregon is going "max pass" and that means 6 rotations of Van Sickle hitting left. That would necessitate a 6-2, as I wouldn't want to put too much burden on her offensively. Yeah she'd be a blocking liability, but if we could get to the Finals with Brenner and Fischer both in, then maybe leftside blocking is something you can sacrifice at the NCAA Women's Level. Not needing any DS/serving subs, we could also start BVS in 1 without worrying about running out of subs. This also gets us out of Ro1 and starting Vander Weide left front certainly isn't a bad idea. LVW - Rasmussen/Johnson/McLaren - Stone Nady/Page/Gill - Scott - BVS Benson Libero, Agost/August are kept together for obvious reasons and enter after 2 rotations..

The University of Oregon and the Oregon sports community lost one of it's great supporters and what has to be one of the finest sports father figures I ever met, with the sudden passing of Mr. Doug Brenner, the father of Liz (UO), Doug (UO), and Mary Clair (OSU) Brenner. He is also survived by his wife, Jennifer. Doug was a collegiate swimmer and a coach at both the college and high school levels and worked for the Portland Parks Department (since '85). As a fellow club volleyball and Duck father with Doug, I always looked up to him for the way he approached his life and family. I never once knew the man to drink, smoke, or cuss. I knew him to show up to all of his kids competitions and behave as a parent-fan that any child would be proud of. He was also known to bake a mean batch of cookies for the team for pretty much every match for as long as I can remember...as many just hoped there would be a couple left over for us. Doug Brenner Sr. will be deeply missed in the grandstands somewhere in this state, not to mention in The Brenner home.

Congratulations, Georgia. Excited to see you passing and digging in green & yellow (and white, and black, and chrome, and pink, and ....) come 2019.

Frankie Shebby is transferring out of Oregon? I was thinking the next two years would be her time to shine with the Ducks. Where do you all think she will land?

From her Instagram account 4 weeks ago: "me after realizing I have to make new friends at a new school...." Does she stay in the Pac-12 and sit out a year (ASU or UA maybe) or does she transfer outside the conference to play immediately?
