First midwest qualifier next weekend. What is everyone's thought's on how seedings will go?
For 17's, I could see LIVBC getting the one seed based on their performance at SCVA. After that, it could be wide open. My guess for top 10 would be the following: 2- PREVA (Puerto Rico Elite) 3- Adversity 4- Uno 5- Coastal 6- Sting 7- HPSTL 8- Ulitmate 9- LVC 10- MVC Kyle

Does anyone have information about the timing and make-up of the waves in this tournament. I've looked a bit, but haven't been able to find the schedule on line. I'm relatively new to qualifiers on the boys side of things, and have never been to this tournament. I see that last year the 18 Open was on the afternoon wave the first couple days. Is it safe to assume it will be the same? Has this been published anywhere for this year? I don't see it on the tournament website or on AES.

The schedules and times should be up on AES mid week this week, Wed/ Thurs at the latest.

I am a little curious as to how the you guys arrived at your top 10 seeding for this coming weekend? I really don't get the Puerto Rican seed at number two or four. Is that because they are from Puerto Rico? And we all know that those Puerto Rican teams are "THE BEST VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS ON EARTH"! Obviously no one consulted the BID Manual for guidance. This after all is a USAV BID tournament and is subject to the seeding requirements of that manual. Performance at the most recent BID tournament, plus the make of the team (players from national team), team performance at Nationals previous season and several others. The seedings will be interesting, but I just don't think you are going to get the number of high seeds for all of the local teams since this will be their first BID tournament and the break up of the WA Lightning Club caused the shuffle of players to different clubs.

Other than LIVBC, which should get the 1 seed base on SCVA finish--the rest is a complete and utter guess. Should be a competitive weekend. VA quick question for you, believe your club played the LIVBC guys at SCVA last week. Our club played them twice last year and they took us in three both times. I remember them being very good but, didn't get to see them play in CA last week--I know #12 is an absolute beast and they're a scrappy defensively but what else do they have /improved from last year? Definitely surprised they finished 2nd and beat some solid CA clubs in Balboa and 949 and took SCVC to 3???

I hadn't stumbled across that page. And, even though tentative, it suggests that 18O will be in the morning wave, which is different than what I was thinking based on last year. That will affect how early we want to hit the road on Friday. If he's not playing until Saturday afternoon, I don't mind leaving a little later because we can sleep in. If he's playing in the morning wave and has to be at the facility by 7:00 or 8:00, I'm going to want to get in earlier.

The seeding will always be up for debate, especially for Chicago. For the most part it is the first bid tourn for most of the teams and there isn't much in the way of add'l tourn's prior to this to evaluate all of the teams. IL teams have been playing most of the fall while WI teams really just started before Christmas. There were some Palos events, but you had a lot of teams mixed around as they were 17/18 combined events. As to Puerto Rico, I believe this is the San Juan team, so with their 3rd place at Nationals last year, don't see anything wrong with a 2 or 4 seed. In addition, I am pretty sure that most of the former Lightning players stayed together at Sting. Finally, I did say that after LIVBC at one, the rest was a toss up. I only made my list based on what I thought the Chicago coaches/organizers would do. I also put Adversity and Uno ahead of Sting as I believe they beat Sting in events this year, but I may be wrong. As an FYI for others, here is the exact wording from the Bid manual for seeding: Seeding Criteria 1. Final Finish at Multi-Day Events (most recent events taking priority over previous events) 2. Head to head results 3. Record against the field 4. Prior BJNC finishes 5. Regional rankings 6. Overall record

Disappointed to see they can only award 5 bids for 15s. Only 25 teams are registered and 26 are required to give out all 6 bids. St Louis has 27 teams currently registered but can only award 3 bids.
