Loyola defeated St. Francis in 5, (22-25, 25-13, 25-27, 25-14, 15-9). Loyola played the first two and a half sets without Jaeschke and Olson, and trailing 14-8 in the third, decided maybe it was a good idea to abandon the experiment in favor of winning the match. Ramblers clawed back from the deficit to even the third set at 25-25, but St. Francis had a big enough lead and momentum to pull it out. It was tied at 5-5 in the fifth, but Loyola pulled away for a shaky, nerve-wracking victory.
