Until Destinee understands that being a great volleyball player is more important than being famous, she'll never be back on the team.

I hope and pray that somehow Brasil gets knocked out before the final match or some upsets go well that help us. I'd really rather not have to play them again in the gold medal match. They have kicked our butt two times in a row now very handily, no matter who we have out there in the final match anyways. But it's in brasil this time... don't see that happening. Last quad, we didn't have to "hope" and "pray" that our team got it done once Destinee joined Team USA and Logan and Berg returned and we got rid of Nnamani, Spicer, and Kim Glass. In the 2.5 years leading up to the Olympics, USA was picked as the clear favorite for precious London gold. Our record against the Brazilians during the same timeframe was something like 5-1 (where's USAVolley or C4ndle to confirm this?). It's clear that since the London Games, Team USA hasn't been consistent in its offense. While people like you are praying that the Italians beat the Russians within 4 sets to keep the USA afloat in second place of the pool so we can qualify for the final round, the rest of us are being a bit more realistic in our optimism that a healthy Hooker will return to the national team. I, unlike those of you who are content with the current roster, am not going to be satisfied with a silver or bronze or Fair Play Award if we didn't have our country's most capable players on our national team. It's one thing to fail after exhausting all your resources and options to succeed; it's entirely a different conundrum of failure if you are satisfied with mediocrity.

Impressed most with her back row attack only four feet off the net. Would love to see her and the right setter (not Glass) implement real bics of the men's game. I agreed with everything you said up until you shat on Glass. Unlike K.Hill's MVP award, I thought Alisha's Best Setter award at the World Championship was well deserved.

Yes, they usually remove coaches who make big personnel moves and then go on to accomplish something that no coach in the history of USA volleyball has ever done. I expect a release announcing his firing any day now.

Hooker would not do whatever it is Karch wanted her do. It is simple as that. If the rules are un-reasonable, CEO Doug Beal would have stepped in already but he did not and has not. End of story. We don't have to know the details. If you want Plum as setter, contact Doug Beal at doug.beal@usav.org, he is available 24/7 I think. LOL Karch does not need to save face or anything like that. He is 3 time Olympics gold medalist. Doug Beal hired him to do one thing and one thing only: win a damned Gold Medal and Karch did. Karch is half way to the final goal which to win an Olympic gold medal. They did not win a WC or Olympics with Hooker so her being on the team is not that important, IMHO. Hooker needs to do what other girls are doing. If she cotinues to resist, Karch will look for other options. Btw, other options are doing fine and getting better.

Beal won't remove Karch because that would be considered a bigger scandal than not having Hooker come back. It's all about saving face, upholding hierarchy and order. Tom should also still be on the team, her past peak hitting ability is irrelevant because she'll never clam up in clutch moments and all her non-hitting abilities still outperform all the other outsides. Only Banwarth might surpass Tom currently in passing ability but mostly due to smaller size advantage.

Yes, that and they just won a gold medal at the world championships, the single greatest achievement in USA womens volleyball history.

I will say this again, what I'm most impressed with is her ability to see the block, then redirect the ball without sacrificing much pace. It's incredible. That, and she appears to be more comfortable waiting on an OOS high ball, resetting her approach=, and taking good a swing, whereas during the last quad I found her to be rather weak in that regard.

Granted the opponent in the video isnt the highest level, but when you are taking the ball as high as she is, and hit it that hard to corners, it doesnt matter all that much who is on the other side of the net. I will say again, that we do not have a player on our roster that can do anything even close to what she is doing. I've never been a huge DHook fan, but its pretty undeniable that this is world class talent. If you had a swing for a big point could you name more than 5 players in the world who you would want to take that swing ahead of her?
