Yesterday, Matt Olson posted seven dates for the AVP this year, saying locations coming soon. Here are the dates:
May 22-24 July 31 - August 2 August 7 - 9 August 14 - 16 August 28 - 30 September 4 - 6 September 11 - 13
A couple of notes: - Nothing on October 2 - 4. So either no stop in Hermosa, or Hermosa is on another date. - Looks like a conflict with FIVB grand slams or majors on Aug 28 - 30 in Poland and Sept 4-6 in Germany. - Random commenters predicted that the May date is New Orleans and that Chicago is on the list. - Fair guess that Manhattan Open could be the same weekend as last year (8/14-8/16) and the weekend before Long Beach.
Anyone else know anything?

The AVP usually has a Florida tournament so my guess is that the May 22 -24 would be somewhere in Florida. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Salt Lake City continue to be in the mix.

Santa Barbara, for some reason, seems to fall every "other" year, so I expected a '15 stop there, but for no reason other than my little anecdotal experience...

The fact that the 1st date is in May, then the next isn't till the last week of July makes me think that 1st one is in Florida. Otherwise, you think there'd be an open June/July date.

Just a few random thoughts on the dates and potential locations: -7 total stops you have to figure Florida, Hungtington, Manhattan, Atlantic City, Cincy or Chicago, SLC, and maybe another midwest? -Id be shocked if that first tournament wasn't Florida. Not sure where the New Orleans talk came from, but I suppose that is possible but traditionally that first one has been Florida. -The Sept 11-13 date will be pretty interesting I guess. That is the same weekend as the EEVB in Atlantic City which the AVP has run on the same weekend for the past 2 years. I would just be surprised if the AVP ended in NJ. Normally they do the AVP Championships or whatever and end in Cali. -I guess there will probably be another Cincy stop, but man last year was pitiful, that place was EMPTY most of the weekend. Kind of weird since everyone says Cincy usually has a good turnout. -7 total stops again is relatively disappointing. I was really hoping for the tour to start growing and perhaps hit 10 by now.

I was hoping they would increase the number of stops as well. NVL has 8 this year

Glad to see the AVP with a little counter-scheduling. Seven events yet again is an issue though. Any word on the prize money? Sponsors?

Yeah, as optimistic as I am, 7 is a bit of a downer...BUT, this is still innuendo, no? It will be interested to see how this plays out when the schedule comes out...sure getting close to April Fool's Day for schedule release, so all I can say is "be prepared on V.T."...

I believe they've been in SLC in mid-august last 2 years, so I'm guessing August 14-16 for that one

Just a few thoughts here. I can't really see them dropping Milwaukee after the awesome turnout last year, and Donald Sun seemed really pleased with the entire tournament, so I would not be at all surprised to see dates added and subtracted as the Spring progresses, would you guys? In addition, although I would personally be happy as heck to see Chicago back on the schedule, since it has not been for the past few years, do you really think it is coming back?

Chicago seems so BIG in VB, seems like a perfect stop....Interesting to hear the Cincinnati critique, as I thought they were a slam dunk at the center they have for beach there...

Have not missed Cinci in many years, and I am not sure Sophomore and I were at the same tournament. May look a bit sparse with the larger tennis court seating in the main court, but even with the evening rain it still seemed like a good turnout. In addition, Cinci seems to have one of the more advanced (by Midwestern standards) youth beach volleyball programs, so they always seem to turn out younger fans much better than most venues, and I think that has been, in large part, why they have been very successful with both volunteer and fan turnout. Very glad they returned to the Tennis Center after a few fits and starts with Hahana Beach and that downtown venue, by the way. Just my humble opinion - if they charged at Manhattan Beach like they do in Cinci, it would be interesting to see the turnout comparisons?

Cincinnati has historically always been the very best attended AVP Tournament East of California. Year after the year the community supports the event, regardless of venue. The local promoter is strong and the fans are many. Last year we had terrible weather on Sunday morning, playing the crossover matches in a strong downpour. Skies cleared by 1 pm though and fans called other fans to say the weather had cleared and we had a near capacity crowd for the Finals. Don't think many markets could turn on a dime like that and provide that on site support of Beach volleyball.

NVL had a stop in Mason, OH, last year. What was that like?
