Can somebody please tell me where this Haley Eckerman was this year for Texas. She looks outstanding professionally right now. Also, she has a great new hybrid serve. These are highlights from her pro games.

It's amazing how a different Coach will develop talent. This is what everybody was expecting out H.Eckerman at Texas.I tip my hat to this Coach, for really coaching her. And getting the best out of her.She looks good. And in a short time, she look like different player.I am pride of her. Hookem'

She does look better, but it must help to have players around her that can pass and set way better than her team mates at Texas ever could. Plus looks like she is facing blockers that are barely 6 feet.

Maybe it helps not having the pressure of school work and expectations of senior year too?

HA HA!
Didn't take long for this to turn into bashing Jerritt Elliott!
Guess what - I could go back to the past season and create a Haley Eckerman highlight dvd and she would look like the greatest Texas VB player of all time.
Perhaps we should just be happy her pro career is off to a nice start and thank the Texas program for preparing her physically and emotionally.

Great hits and where have those been? Is it just me and my off hearing or are there some added sound effects when Haley hits the ball?? If you watch the whole video from beginning to end, sometimes the sound is spot on, sometimes a small almost unnoticeable delay and sometimes it sounds like it normally does when the ball is hit. Hmmm

Maybe it helps not having the pressure of school work and expectations of senior year too? Is she also perhaps experiencing anything different in regards to motherhood? I'm not sure if her child was living with her in Texas, or living with her parents or another family member while she focused on school and volleyball? If she was having any of the physical/time duties that come with motherhood (what I mean is that I'm sure it's mentally exhausting being so far away?) then that (physical) exhaustion is relieved now. (In addition to school and expectations as previously mentioned.)

No Elliott bashing here..... quite frankly, I don't think the NCAA system is designed to develop players to their top potential. There are a number of issues at play: 1. Too many subs 2. Coaches tend to have too short term a focus..... winning is not just a big thing... its the only thing. 3. Coaches a bit too concerned with a "system" rather than letting their best athletes get out there and figure it out.
In the manner of a few short months, Eckerman is effectively hitting high balls and tempo sets. Finally a coach who got rid of her moonball ball toss on serve. Eckerman is not the only example. These NCAA coaches have these players for four years, yet many players develop more in their first pro season than those 4 years in school.

What players have been markedly better immediately as pro's than they were in college? Maybe she just plays better for money!

Off the top of my head other players I think became different players pretty quickly after getting out of the NCAA system: Hooker, Larson (maybe not in 3-4 months, but her attack swing improved 100%), Harmotto, Murphy, Hill, Gibbemeyer, etc.

She had / has an excellent support system. She is smart to take advantage of her abilities and make some $$$ on the pro circuit to provide for herself and her young boy.
