U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski (D.- MD) announced her retirement from the senate on Monday. She is the longest serving woman in the history of the senate. Mikulski said she will not run for re-election in 2016, but instead will be sent to State College, PA where she will play against Penn State in the first round of the NCAA DI Women's volleyball tournament. Mikulski was huuuuuge for female representation in the legislature, so it was a bummer to hear she was retiring. I enjoyed the speech she gave announcing her retirement though, in which she talked about raising hell in retirement vs. raising funds for a campaign and jokingly told the crowd they'd be hearing about her likely replacements within the next 10 minutes. LOL

Meanwhile ... more news from South Bend:
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — South Bend police are searching for a person of interest in the shooting death of a 41-year-old woman. Officers responded to a report of shots fired at a home Monday night. When they arrived on the scene, officers found Tanya Jones suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The South Bend Tribune reports police confirmed Jones later died from her injuries. Capt. Phil Trent says the shooting didn’t appear to be random. He says police are actively searching for a person of interest in the case. An investigation is being led by the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit. Three homicide investigations have been launched into four deaths so far this year in South Bend.
It looks like Jimmy Mac's new home town is quite as sleepy as we all thought.

Here's something I learned today...Notre Dame is NOT in South Bend.
The University of Notre Dame is located just north of South Bend and is technically in unincorporated Notre Dame, Indiana.
Who knew?

And then, holy crap sandwich, look at this incredible rally in China.
The damn thing lasts 1 minute, 20 seconds. A minute F****** Twenty.
Almost as impressive as the play on the court, are the announcers. Notice how they appropriately just shut the hell up and say almost nothing. There's no announcer shreiking on every contact and over-talking, there's no analyst telling some long-winded story. Just a few quick words while we all watch this amazing rally...

My favorite part is the old guy in the stands at the end who just doesn't care.
