In the mix for the Senior National team?
Without a doubt Aaron Russell and Cody Kessel. Both will be training almost immediately upon graduation and Aaron has a legit shot for 2012.

Id definitely like to take our current team back to Rio though! Haha I saw a picture of Tom Jaeschke, Aaron, and James Shaw all training together. Id like to see what Jeff Menzel can do, and Id like to see what Matt West and Jonah Seif can do too. I imagine Brinkley will get in the gym with the Senior team, but Erik's young and doing a fantastic job. Middles will be a big question... Dave Lee is fantastic but he is getting old. What about Futi Tavana and Scott Kevorken? Side note, anyone know anything about Clay Stanley?

Middle Blocker is the position we are most solid at. Holt will surely start. I can see Dave Smith getting more time this year. He is having a great season. Russell Holmes has come on strong as of late, but he is older and has seemed to have peaked in terms of playing time with the NT. I can see Vogel getting more and more time. He was on the roster at the WC and has been playing well this season in Germany. Kevorken has also been playing quite well on a team that has frankly overachieved. Tavana basically took a year off. He finally started playing this past month in Indonesia, but not sure that will get him ready for a steady role with the NT. He had a chance in Japan for the GCC, but has since lost ground to the other middles.
Jeff Menzel has had his chances, but I just do not think he has been consistent enough for the coaches to regularly include him. He has also been moving down leagues the last few years. Garrett Muagututia has been playing in China, but has been done for some time now. He put up decent numbers, but in China. I think Russell will be the next OH to have a serious shot to break into the squad. Anderson is slowly getting back to form, but they seem to keep him on the right side. I am wondering if this may be the summer in which Murphy Troy breaks out. He has seen action here and there, but this year he has been one of the best performers in one of the best leagues in the world. The player who has most surprised me this year has been Brian Cook. He has been putting up great numbers in Greece. Now Greece is no longer a top notch league, but he is found himself in the go-to role.
I think Brinkley will be the back-up libero. They increased the roster size and added a second libero to the mix, so I can see both he and Shoji on the roster in Rio, possibly even by Japan this year.

Is Ratajak on the radar? I think Matt West will be included but probably by 2020 or a little later. Has great leadership qualities and is probably the best location setter in NCAA, even if he is a little skinny.

Taylor Averill's immediate goal is to get on the National Team (his words). I think he is definitely good enough for a shot.

Though a freshmen, Jake Arnitz has potential to get on. He REALLY needs to work on his passing though. It's too much of a liability. In reality though, I really like the idea of Murphy Troy getting to start on the right side. I've always been a fan of him, and this year in particular, he has played very well.

Ben Patch is a really good option for them if he develops like he should he will start on the right side with sander and Anderson on the outside.

jaesheke, the guy is the best player out of college since matt anderson. he is only a junior, is long, can pass, and will be the starting OH next to sander in olympics to come. he has come so far from finishing his high school career as the #1 team in the nation out of chicago to winning the national championship last year. he is light years ahead of cody caldwell and will have to carry this loyola team this year if they want any chance at a repeat. Right now, he is more efficient than a. russell, with twice the ball control. his overall power game will need work but he is as effective as the best of them. right now at loyola, the back row attack is what separates them from the middle tier of teams.

I really like Anderson on the right... .giving us four receivers on court (and therefore, flexibility), so I think L2 is really the position that is open for debate, and not opp. Jaeschke and Russell have to be at the top. I don't watch too much MIVA, but whenever I've seen Jaeschke he's just had this great confidence about him that I think will serve him well. Everybody is skilled at that level, not everybody has the mindset.

Jaesheke is very good, but Taylor Sander was and is a better player and he played between Anderson and Jaesheke, so this statement is false.
Nick Olson will get a look sooner rather than later.
