From ocvarsity.com. www.ocvarsity.com/articles/university-77959-loyola-victory.html"The Oilers, who have won consecutive CIF-SS and CIF Southern California Regional titles, set a CIF-SS record for consecutive victories with their 70th in a row, a 25-22, 25-19, 25-12 nonleague victory over visiting Servite. The previous record was held by Laguna Beach, 1981-1983." They do not want to lose a set this year. How good is Loyola going to be this year? Do they deserve the 2 ranking and will they have a chance to at least win a set against HB at the Best in West Tournament this weekend?

Is DeFalco as good as everyone seems to think he will be at the next level? How's his serving? passing? blocking? How's his demeanor on the court? off the court?

CdM is really the only team that has a shot at beating HBHS in my opinion. Although they lost some serious talent from last years team, they have plenty to go 40-0...again. We will see at the Best of the West!

Most of the CdM Volleyball Team is still playing basketball and won't be at Best in West. They will be without their two probable starters at outside, their setter, and their probable starter at opposite. And another varsity player who is on the basketball team. Best of West is not going to be a good indicator of what the team may look like later in the season.
As the broadcasters said on Fox Sports on Saturday at the CIF SS Championships, the CdM volleyball team is masquerading as a basketball team. They are pretty good basketball team advancing to the CIF SS Championships and finishing runner ups and winning tonight and advancing in the CIF State Tournament.
They are going to get a late start for the volleyball season since many probably haven't played volleyball since early January and have at least one more basketball game.

#2 Loyola vs #3 Mira Costa tomorrow night @ LMU I believe. Both teams seem to be pretty even after their play at BOW last weekend, so should be a fun one to watch. My guess is Loyola squeaks it out in 4, which will keep the current seeds intact.

DeFalco is strong. His challenge will be staying "interested". He plays at such a high level that at times he seems bored and it shows in his body language. I really want to see this kid do well beyond HS. He's got freaky-talent-- continue to develop his mental game and court leadership and he's going to be the ultimate asset to any team (Long Beach St. is going to have one heck of a cannon at the outside with some pretty good passing).

Another cool thing is that he does not rely on physicality. He has a cannon, but he's not jumping out the gym or looks to be out benching his competitors. He's a pure talent.

In the OC Championships
Cdm defeated San Clemente in the semis HB defeated Dana Hills in the semis
Monday night HB will play CdM in the championship match.
At this point HB looks more dominate than last year.
CdM has good flashes of potential then will make a series of errors, Dana Point has good ball control, San Clemente has a lot of height, and Los Alamitos are all pretty close to each other.
Defalco was a big step above everyone else I saw. Moss on CdM was playing at a high level too. Augie Miller was also playing well.
