So any idea when, or if, Grahovac will be back and healthy enough to play? Good question. She was walking, without crutches, this past Sunday at the St. Mary's match. My guess is that she will be ready to play 2 to 3 weekends from today. Oh thats good to hear. Hopefully she will be ready for conference play. In the mean time, do you think Wallace will continue to play that OPP spot?

Wallace played well against Alabama and Duke; however, her lack of quickness and agility were revealed against St. Mary's. I don't know what BG's options are with so many front line players injured--Brinke, Atkinson, and Grahovac. I think Wallace would be more effective in the middle with either Murray and Benson moving to the right side.

LBSU loses 3-0 to Illinois State.
Not a great match by LBSU. However, Ashley Murray was a bright spot and was by far the best attacker for this Long Beach team. Grahovac struggled during the first two sets, but she played pretty well in the third set. She looked much better than Benson today.
The team in general did not pass very well. The first set was especially bad with several players getting aced. That needs to be fixed because Hudson had a hard time even getting a hand on some balls because of the passing. Defense was not that good as well. A lot of hesitant plays by the back row.
Barber was good at times but she was a little bit inconsistent. Beddingfield struggled to put the ball away sometimes and kept hitting low into the block. With two matches left this weekend, I hope that some of the bench players get a shot at playing because we need more offense. There just was not enough fire power today to beat this Illinois State team.
Props to Illinois State though. They played really well. One of their right side hitters was just on fire for the entire match and our blockers just could not stop her.

Tough loss for the 49ers, but it's only the beginning of the season. Lots of room for improvement.

I was at the match and found LBSU to have troubles closing the block and with communication. The opposite for ISU took advantage of slow blocking movement.

Yeah I was watching the live feed and was very frustrated. This team has potential, but they unfortunately did not do well at all tonight. Hudson really had a hard time getting to the ball. Hopefully they can do well tomorrow.

Long Beach wins against Rutgers 3-1. I wasn't watching the match, but from the stats it looks like Mykah Wilson was hitting. Was she playing outside? Also was Grahovac playing middle instead of Benson? Who was playing libero?

Miller went to libero
Wilson now @ OH, Lawmaster as DS - BG had to do something to get a team on the floor that could pass the ball remotely in the vicinity of the volleyball court to Hudson
Beddingfield, the frosh from New Mexico went from OH to the middle.
Bensen & Kruidhof benched - both really struggling - Benson having a tough time adjusting, but LB may need her for blocking (if she can adapt to the system)
now LB has to gifure out their block

So is Wilson at OH going to be permanent now? Or was that just a one weekend thing? She would definitely help the passing but not sure if offensively she is the answer.
Man, I wish Brinke and Atkinson were healthy.

LB's super frosh: www.daily49er.com/sports/2015/09/08/qa-with-lbsu-womens-volleyballs-mykah-wilson/Q&A with LBSU women’s volleyball’s Mykah Wilson The freshman libero found a home on the volleyball court at LBSU. Bobby Yagake | Daily 49er Freshman libero Mykah Wilson has 86 digs for an average of 3.74 per game in LBSU’s first six games of the season. Kayce Contatore, Assistant Sports Editor September 8, 2015 Print Friendly Three weeks into the Long Beach State women’s volleyball season and freshman libero Mykah Wilson has already made her presence known on the court for the 49ers. Wilson earned Big West Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 31 for her debut performances in the 49ers’ first three matches against Alabama, Duke and St. Mary’s. Wilson totaled 58 digs over the three matches and averaged 4.46 digs per set in the opening weekend. While attending Southlake Carroll High School in Southlake, Texas, Wilson was an All-State selection her senior season and the District Defensive Player of the Year as a junior and senior. Wilson ended her high school career by leading the Dragons to back-to-back area championships and a third-place finish at the State tournament. The Texas native talked to the Daily 49er about her decision to attend LBSU and seeing so much time on the court as a freshman. What’s it like for you, as a freshman, to get playing time and earn Big West Defensive Player of the Week? It’s been awesome and honestly, I owe it all to my team. I had goals for myself coming into this, but I never thought they would come true this fast. I just think that with the support system I’ve had behind me that it’s been great for me and I’m excited to see where we go as a team from here. Why did you choose to come to LBSU? The staff here is what really got me. I wanted to come to a winning program and I think that Brian [Gimillaro] obviously knows what he’s doing, so I wanted to come out here. And I love California. I play sand [volleyball] too, so obviously Texas wasn’t the greatest spot for that. How would you compare your freshman year in high school to your freshman year in college so far? It’s weird how parallel it is because I was on varsity my freshman year. I went to a small country school so it was a small tiny town. The aspect of it is the same but here it is a much higher level. It’s the same jump just more stretched out and more difficult. Any volleyball player you look up to? I look up to April Ross so much. I’ve had the opportunity to meet her and talk to her. Her playing indoor, her four years at USC and then going out and doing what she’s done on the sand, that’s all I’ve ever wanted for myself. And I think she does a good job of carrying herself and that’s how I want to be. How do you see yourself progressing over your time at LBSU? I think if I’ve learned this much in the three weeks that I’ve been here, I think that the knowledge that [Gimillaro] is feeding into my brain, I think I’ll progress way more than I initially thought I would. From everything he is saying to us and drilling into us, I think eventually it will start clicking and I’ll just go forward.
