They've practiced and scrimmaged at GG. I suppose they could hold a dual there, but I don't see anything bigger than that. UW budgeted $400 for planning a sand volleyball facility, but so far nothing more. In my experience, four hundred bucks isn't going to get you much of a beach volleyball facility.

LOL is that even enough for a truckload of sand?

"Planning" aka 2 lunch meetings. Yep, just planning. Probably the cost of gas and a night at a Motel 6 to drive to Eugene and back, to report on what Oregon is doing.

Oregon's not going to do anything for a while, at least until the new softball stadium is complete. UW swept the Ducks today in sand. A lot more sand experience on that roster I was kinda surprised the Ducks won last year.

Stanford, in the meantime, has upped the ante:

That hs girl from kennedy high in burien will be a good one. once she's through the gauntlet, i'm not so sure that UDub will continue to lure top sand talent to the PNW.
Eugene I believe is still a couple of degrees warmer (even in the winter).
One of the region's did get away to of all places Honolulu. she's up from around Stevens Pass.

Recruited as a Libero on the indoor team, although an OH at Kennedy (at only 5'7"). Sand at UW is an add-on, with no sand-only recruits. Eugene might be warmer (although Seattle's winter weather is pretty mild), but is also wetter (by about 10 inches/month).

Cool! Huskies beat St. Mary's 5-0 and Cal 3-2 yesterday to finish the season at 8-0. Notable results were Finau/Sybeldon beating their St. Mary's competition 21-0 and 21-5, and Vansant/DeHoog losing to their Cal competition Eshoo/Regalia 21-16, 13-21, 15-11. It's interesting that Vansant is so dominant indoor yet has had mixed results in sand this year. There is a pairs tournament today against Stanford which is apparently not part of the season. www.gohuskies.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=30200&ATCLID=210017691

Many younger players grew up playing sand. Vansant didn't.

Stanford pretty much gets their pick of athletes they can admit, so what they do isn't a big factor in what other Pac-12 schools do. A much bigger factor for Washington is what Oregon does, and vice versa. When Oregon built an indoor practice facility, Washington did them one better (Dempsey).
