In this heat, I'm on my third ice cream bar, contemplating a fourth.

About 12 degrees cooler today in Palo Alto ... tomorrow it will drop another 10 and we'll be back to normal. That's means no more ice cream excuses for our most extinguished poster.

Per my car thermostat 100 degrees on the drive home this afternoon although that always seems a bit artificially high. Anyhoo air conditioner being installed tomorrow. We have owned this home for 25 year and will probably be here for 5 more and then maybe relocate in our retirement. Thought it would help with resale as it is becoming much more common in Seattle than once was. Briefly entertained the idea of a facelift but as the live of my life put it so well “you want to look cool or be cool?” 😅

I am going to become a local burden to one of my children in my old age but they haven’t committed to a location yet - my daughter may have and I could get on board with the general location Colorado but I got a few years until we can realistically make the move

As much as I love living in California, I prefer colder climates to hotter ones. I could be happy in the Pacific Northwest, Utah, or Colorado.

We are “cooling” off. High was only 106 today. We usually get a thunderstorm/dust storm in the evening. The pool filter is working overtime.

I remember one afternoon in Sedona, AZ when my wife and I were sitting on a patio bar, sipping some drinks after a hot day of sightseeing. Then the sky got dark pretty quickly. It started to pour a little. We were still sort of enjoying the view. Then, all of a sudden, a bolt of lightning struck an area half a mile away (could've been closer). Scared the shiite out of me! And just as I was settling down, another bolt of lightning! Really scary mothers.

Many, many years ago sitting in a chair in my home in Minnesota the flash and very loud boom of a lightning strike are almost simulatneous. I look up at the ceiling and I see electricity dancing across the top of the room. That is what I call a Come to Jesus Moment.

Damn climate change; it just gets hotter and hotter every summer, even where we live. It was nice up until this past week. My parents have a heat pump system, so that acts as AC in in the summer.

I am going to become a local burden to one of my children in my old age but they haven’t committed to a location yet My parents and my sister both live within a few miles of me. I don't expect any of us to go anywhere. My bones/ashes will probably end up somewhere around here eventually.
