Late in the 2015 recruiting game so here goes . . . Attention Club and High School Coaches: Missouri Southern State Univ. in Joplin, Mo. (the gem of the midwest) is in immediate need of two players. We'll need an OH and a RS this season. After some recent "creative accounting" we now have substantial scholarship money available -- even for out-of-state athletes. Looking to make decisions soon so get a scholarship while it's hot! Excellent chance of playing right away. Requirements: - Above avg. ACT - Ranked pretty high in class - Great teammate - Elbows at top of net when blocking - Forehead level or above top of net when attacking ** (The above three are non-negotiable) - Primary passer (for OH) - Sane parents MSSU is in the MIAA Conference; it's one of the toughest DII conferences in the country. The level of play is comparable to mid-major DI. We were top 20 in the nation in team blocking and had the #1 individual blocker in the country last year. Our team GPA was 3.5. Some good things are happening here. Junior College and other college transfers will be considered as well. Send recommendations to: napier-j@mssu.edu Thanks

Yeah that’s quite funny. I think this was actually hilarious. It made me to remember one of our professors Aloke Ghosh who used to do similar things but I must say that he is quite intelligent and well-known name.

Just to note--you say the above three are non-negotiable. There are five things listed above it. I expect that sort of math from Illinois' schools, not elsewhere.

These three are non-negotiable:
- Great teammate - Elbows at top of net when blocking - Forehead level or above top of net when attacking And let me add another: The sane parents is non-negotiable too.
That leaves ACT, class rank, and primary passer as the negotiable requirements. So as you can see, 6 out of the 9 requirements are negotiable.

Do the parents have to be sane, or just hands-off?

Sane when dealing with coaches, players, administrators, their own daughter, other parents, fans, and people in general -- the rest of the time they can be bat-**** crazy for all we care.
Let me add, we've still got scholarship money available and can almost guarantee playing time.

Any reason this is not posted on prepvolleyball.com? Huge readership....I bet some of the unsigned seniors from the LoneStar fiasco would be interested. Just a thought. Sounds like a great gig....

Which line is better!?!? creative accounting? i'm sure the NCAA would like to know how creative you're being.
can almost guarantee playing time?? Imagine if you're on the roster right now, like. . . WTF?

"Which line is better!?!? creative accounting? i'm sure the NCAA would like to know how creative you're being."
-- NCAA couldn't give two hoots that I made a necessary roster change to open up a scholarship. And DII coaches can make scholarship adjustments as they see fit. There's really no creativity behind it -- I just wanted to make myself sound smart.
"can almost guarantee playing time?? Imagine if you're on the roster right now, like. . . WTF?"
-- If you are currently one-deep in a position, nobody is saying WTF? In fact, the roster players are saying get somebody the F here quick.
Can I clarify any other issues?

Isn't it awfully late in the year for a high school senior to still be undecided on a college? May 1 is pretty much the deadline for non-athlete incoming freshmen to accept offers of admission and send in their enrollment deposits.
