It only slightly has anything to do with this since players are playing in a variety of offshore situations, but my boring afternoon Manhattan Project has been to make the best team possible using one player from each B1G team and no more.

It clearly states in the article "first time in conference history". My guess is it will be some of the better players. Including Penn State.

Here's a thought on how to select a team: Each coach picks a B1G team at random and selects who that team must send.

I'm guessing there will be DS, S, RS x2 and OH, MH x 4. Or something close to that.

When will we know the team? The athletes already know, so soon?

Each team has a representative, they will obviously try to have strong players, but it is really up to the coach who they send.

How does the selection process work, given that they're scrimmaging and so will need a certain number of each position? The teams can't just send whoever they want or the tour risks winding up with 10 OHs and 4 DSs or something. Does each team get assigned a position to send? Does each team send a list of candidates of different positions and the tour coach picks who goes?

The Northwestern announcement (Keylor Chan to Guide Big Ten Foreign Tour Team on April 23rd) says:
"The complete Big Ten Foreign Tour Team, including a member of the Wildcats, and a final schedule will be announced next week. "
So, we should know soon!

Does it have to be players that are eligible for the 2015 season? In the past seniors from the previous season were on these tours. Depending on what Hancock/Grant/Gonzonlez/Fuller have going on this summer, could be one of them. I'm thinking Grant if she's available and eligible. Hancock and Grant are going to Korea with CNT team

Plus travel visas and passports ( if you don't have one or it is expired) take awhile. So they need to get this done pretty timely.
