Am on hotwire looking for hotels for next week's match. We're thinking of going. Is "Irvine Spectrum - Laguna Hills area hotel" near the venue?

So lets get this straight.....because I ask to put in Alex during parts of Hawaii's play where they look like they are simply playing through the motions and lacking enthusiasm...That I am somehow now related to him? Get a grip. Everytime I suggest to bring in Alex are at parts where Hawaii seems to be lagging and I know Jones will rile them up. He got the crowd going too. This team goes off of emotion...you can't deny that. In their defense, I think too many people assume it's a setting issue when it's very far from that. Hawaii should never have to make that change to keep the pins from playing lazy. They need to be mentally attuned the entire match, and that's something we know Hawaii has struggled with. As simple as passing and hitting smart, particularly off of 1 or 2 options sets. You should not have to sacrifice as much as Franciskovic brings simply because we require a spark and a wake up call in the other facets of Hawaii's game. Yeah, Jones is good at being goofy. But we saw what happened at BYU, making the change hurt us far more than it helped. I see people jumping onto that Jones band wagon a bit because he's goofy and a good talker and the rest of the team are good at pulling themselves together when that change is made, but it's a bit unfair to Franciskovic, to invalidate what he's accomplished with this team simply because there's a perceived need to fix an energy issue with the pins that should never be a problem in the first place. How is that unfair to Jennings? Not once in this thread did I say Jennings was playing bad. Not once! I was hoping a change of pace and more energy on the court. Thats it! Jennings is simply smooth, calm, and collective on the court. I love his style. But once in a while when the pins arent doing their thing and the passing is blah....you need a firecracker to spark a fuse under their asses. Hawaii has leaned on its bench players all year when they needed that extra lift. I dont understand how me asking to put Jones in to spark some emotion is a bad thing? Jones coming in to serve in sets 2&3 is the reason Hawaii caught up. What you dont see is how Jones is firing up the crowd and going buck wild when Hawaii scored. That sparked hustle, grit, and determination by everyone around him to get back on point. Energy is what has propelled this Hawaii team all season long. Its something I've mentioned all season long. Whether they are suppose to lean on it or not...that is simply a part of its game as a team. You can't hide that fact and pretend like it doesn't exist. And because they lack the energy, shouldn't be a means for Charlie to simply sit on his hands and do absolutely NOTHING to correct it and let them lose that set. You see your team losing steam and playing through the motions, if possible, you make the changes to add that spark back. He did and they won! Go figure!

Costa Mesa - Newport beach will be closer for you. Hope that helps Irvine Spectrum is not at the campus of Irvine? The Irvine Spectrum is not the same as the UC Irvine Campus. It's a couple of freeway exits south of UCI and about a 10-15 minute drive.

You didn't answer my question. Are you friends or family with Jones? Do you have a personal relationship with him? You are obviously a very big fan of his. And the way you continue to dish on Franciskovic -- Your comments sound personal. Hawaii got very, very lucky last night. I think the problem with the team right now is coming from the senior leadership. It seems like some of them may have already checked out and looking ahead to the next things in their life. Why do you need a clown, who most people agree is not that good at setting or serving, to fire you up. The "All Americans" Averill and Sedore should be able to bring more positive energy on their on. So instead of crying for Jones to set, why don't you put some blame where it belongs: on those two. Since this team was named #1, Averill has be playing at half speed and Brook is very distracted. When the hitters are playing "flat", they are frequently just moving slow, late to the ball, and then hit straight into a single block. Jones has sometimes bailed them out with slow, basic high set. But that combination won't win a championship. So when your yelling for Jones, I'm yelling for the hitters to step it up and start playing with purpose. Or how about pointing out that the UH libero is way too quiet. Have heard lots of hate on this site directed to the BYU libero for being a clown. So should the UH libero bring more on-court energy? Doesn't seem like he says a word out there. The UH backup is much more animated. so why don't you call for him to come in? I personally think the key to victory is strong, steady focus, playing with purpose and energy. and hustle -- not acting the fool. Crowd cheerleaders belong on the sidelines. You won't see Irvine or Pepperdine resorting to bringing in a clown to bring up their energy. They will just pound you to death with their best guys. That's what makes me worried for Hawaii. Ultimately, after watching jones post game impromptu interview last night, along with his various others, I'm thinking that Jones' passive aggressive antics toward the other setter may actually hurting the team. I don't like people who try to tell you how great they are by tearing down a teammate. And I've heard him dish on Franciskovic. Not very classy. IMO, while Jones has had some value this season in a supporting roll, if he was the starter, this team would not have made playoffs. Additionally, I don't enjoy watching his style of game play, the way he sets, and how he struts around. It usually turns into ugly volleyball. I don't even know the guy....so get your head out of your okole! Did that answer your question? Or do I have to draw pictures for you as well? You sound like the biggest hater....keep sipping on that juice. I think Hawaii knows exactly what it takes to make a run at the championship. Did they faulter in this game....oh hell yeah! Was Sedore a no show? You betcha! But the fact remains that this TEAM relies on EVERYONE to steer them to victory.....from the starters, to the backups, to the damn volunteer assistant. That has been its thing from the very start of the season. Its of no surprise or it shouldn't be of no surprise to someone watching this particular team all season as to what makes this team tick. And guess what? They have to continue to do what has gotten them there thus far. Lean on your starters, bring in the back ups to light a spark when needed, let Coach Zarkovic get animated on the sidelines...and you go out there and just BANG! Four Teams didn't make the MPSF playoffs, Four teams did not survive the quarterfinals, and Hawaii is still in the hunt! That's all that matters at this point....you do what you gotta do to survive the next game. Hawaii is doing just that. If it takes a "goofy" back up setter to get its team in a position to WIN.... then sign up more braddahs like him! Oh, and you don't like how Jones struts around?lmao Sounds like a personal problem...not his or mine for that matter.
