I don't think he's the best in ncaa history. I'm talking about right now. Things like this make me think he is over rated. Also finishing third in POY voting, ahead of Kalmback and West. He's had an okay senior year, nothing all that special, especially for all his experience and hype, lets be honest. I do think there's a difference between Micah with the NT and Speraw and Micah with Ferguson, if that makes sense.

I know you're a lawyer but my connotation was clear. Even so, you have a penchant for outlandish statements. He's very good, but it's still too early to say he's the best USA setter ever. I wouldn't have posted it if I didn't believe it. I regularly see Christensen setting the middle OOS, I rarely saw Ball do that, times have changed and the skill level for setters has increased overall everywhere.

Im sorry USC has a roster full of high school all americans. Is this meant to be an indictment of our HS and Club evaluation system?

It looks like micah was outplayed due to his hitters, but give him Pepperdine, irvine or hawaii hitters, he looks amazing. West is fantastic mind you, but micah imo is in another realm. Im sorry USC has a roster full of high school all americans. No they don't.. They have a bunch of undersized midgets who can't pass.. You don't know what you're talking about.

It's way too early to say he's the best. Best setter in the ncaa? Bar none. In the world? Can definitely make a case. But let's hold off on history. I don't even think he's the best in the NCAA this year, west has outplayed him all season. West isn't the athlete he is, but he has great hands. What is your deal with Slaught and Christenson. You have been ranting on them this entire thread. Slaught was an absolute beast last night hammering down 21 kills. If Micah had the same offensive threats as West, they would be #1 easily IMO. Micah is an amazing setter with all the intangibles and will likely go down as the best American setter ever after a lengthy career. Also for all the ranting on SC and Coach Ferguson this year, they're currently in the semi-finals of the toughest conference in college sports, having won 8 5 set matches this year.

It's really pretty simple, Micah is a great setter, and has the potential to be one of the best. He's got a World Championship to prove it.
But let's face it, great setters make hitters look good, and great hitters make setters look good. The combination of both is what makes for Gold Medals and World Championships.

Slaught also had 14, errors! That's more than some teans have combined. I have no deal with Christensen, I have stated he is the best choice for the national team. However people use his reputation with the national team to give him credit for this NCAA season. He hasn't been the best setter in the MPSF this year, It's been West.

I do agree national team stuff shouldn't factor into the NCAA season, yet I think he has done a great job leading his team with out any really top tier hitters around him into the semi finals. I do agree West has had a fantastic season but still wouldn't put him ahead of Micah. I believe he his more important to SC than West is to Pepp.

Setters have to be leaders of their teams; sometimes this is by leading from the front and other times it is by setting others up to shine. I think in the setting Matt has out done him this season. I think Matt decision making has been better. Micah has the heart of a warrior and does appear to be the linchpin for USC. Different situations each a pleasure to watch.

Weren't all the USC starters top-level recruits coming out of high school? I seem to remember USC getting praise for their top level recruiting classes.

Agreed! Micah is the fierce competitor and the heart of the team who has a tremendous will to win while Matt is the solid backbone who consistently performs night in night out, making others around him better. I see West / Shaw as back up in Rio.
