USC finished 10th (8-12) in the PAC-12 last year. Will they do better in 2015? www.usctrojans.com/sports/w-volley/spec-rel/042215aaa.html" Our fans won't want to miss anything she does including in warm ups next fall." This is a quote from Mick about Wallace-Ford. Does it imply she will redshirt her first year or am I reading this wrong? Why is Taylor Wheatley transferring? Her parents are both USC alums. Both her brothers played baseball at USC. If she was on scholarship I think she would get a USC degree even if there wasn't much playing time available. With all the talk about Nwanebu transferring, is it possible she just wants her back to heal and is not concerned about playing on an NC team or making the national team? Maybe she wants to play where there isn't so much pressure. I always questioned Nwanebu playing last season with volleyball putting so much stress on the back. I am sure the doctors gave her the green light to play and she wasn't pressured to play. In hindsight it might have been better to take the season off and work on strengthening the back muscles. Where is Anne Marie Schmidt transferring or has she retired from volleyball?

Now where she ends up is the big question.

He just means you are going to want to see her warm up too because she bounces balls!

[Lee Corso Voice] Not so fast my friend. I am one of the few believers in Mick, Tim, and Cookie. While the loss of Nwanebu would hurt any team, she is simply not the player she was her freshman year. I think leaving USC was a great choice for Gillis -- she struggled to adjust in Mick's system since her first practice. As for Nwanebu, I think leaving USC is a good decision for her as well. Ebony is a smart woman. She has been through a tough road this last year and I really hope her the best. She is a dynamic player to watch, but I hope she does what is best for her health. I'll keep this short but here's why USC can still flip the script: Samantha Bricio. Just like Mick helped Alex improve EVERY aspect of her game and Jupiter became NPOY, I expect a complete all-around player this year. Bricio's ball control is light year's better than her freshman year and I think she will attack at her strongest this year. She has GOT to stop tipping so much. a new setter will help. Ogoms and Dunn may surprise some people. USC will be starting two of the most athletic middles in a VERY long time. Probably over 10 years. So far everything I've heard about Johnson is great. USC (ironically) actually coaches setting pretty well, so I expect her to really be ready in Mick's system this fall. I am a huge fan of Whittingham. Look for a change in USC's defensive scheme next season giving her more responsibility. Ruddins, Abercrombie, Wallace-Ford have potential to make impacts. Along with Alice, i'm not sure exactly how or if they will fit in the lineup. Open Scholarships. A scholarship to USC is hard to turn down. Like I mentioned a few weeks ago, maybe Mick has a international OH stud up his sleeve. ? My main concerns are at OH2/DS, Passing, and the lack of a Bricio-like terminator.

Southern Cal's biggest advantages don't necessarily include Mick, whether he stays or goes. USC is an internationally recognized university with a huge sports footprint. It offers a top tier educational opportunity and has the money to pay for a premium volleyball program with all the bells and whistles. They play at the Galen Center, one the very best venues in all of college volleyball. They have a history of great success in volleyball. Mick could retire this year and USC would not have a bit of trouble filling his spot with a top shelf coach.
These are the reasons that, even if a couple of dominoes should fall, USC will remain among college volleyball's elite programs.

While I applaud your effort...this is a bad patch for USC. They just lost two big-time athletes, with no one to replace them. Not yet at least. Sure, they'll bounce back, most likely, but this is gonna be rough.

Thanks for sharing all of that. Regarding your comment about Ogoms and Dunn though, if I had to pick any of their middles over the past 10 years, I'd take Lauren Williams and Alexis Olgard over Ogoms and Dunn. I'm also not sure I agree with Dunn being athletic, but then again, "athletic" could mean a number of things. Don't they have an incoming freshman middle? Will she challenge Ogoms or Dunn?

Williams was an absolutely atrocious blocker for an All-American MB.
