I have to disagree.. they play Florida State on Sep 21st.. Always a great rivalry. Gators will have home court advantage this year but I have to place my bets on the Seminoles pulling out the win in 5 sets ! It's always nice to dream Florida will have a very very good team this season..they did lose their entire back row and that could present issues for them. Holston is amazing no doubt but she can't do it all in the back row by herself.

I think they will be fine in the backcourt, they still have excellent passers and diggers and Nikki O'Rourke, who has the fatest foot speed out of the previous group... it shouldn't be a huge drop off. They just might be nervous their first few big matches is all. They do a good job at recruiting and making sure they don't have a bunch of freshman all at once generally, mix them with more experienced players.

UF gets another addition to the 2015 roster. Ann-Lorrayne, a Libero who played at Santa Fe during their first season. Hopefully she'll bring some more passing experience to our back row! We all know that we need some good passing to allow our stellar hitters to be stellar. www.gatorzone.com/story.php?id=30922

If RR didn't recruit so many damn many back row specialists, then there would be some left over for Mary and the Gators. Shame on Penn St. for hoarding back row specialists!

After the starting pin hitters, who are the backups? I didn't see many listed on the roster.

Gabby Mallette and Shaianah Joseph are both listed as OHs. Shaianah is more of a utility player as she played middle the last 2 years, but was used as an OH and a RS in practices and high school, I believe.

Just wondering, do people think that Florida has a shot at making it to the final four this upcoming season?

Just wondering, do people think that Florida has a shot at making it to the final four this upcoming season? Not with D'Agostino setting.

Not 100% sure a final four but they have decent chance. Holston and Alhassan are a handful at the net. Dagostino is the key. If she's consistent... Or at least can connect a few times more, then they have a shot. Also the new libero and defensive specialists. Not sure if the transfer/DSs can pass and defend at a high enough level but only because I haven't seen them. Holston I think is only going to get better. Not as game changing as Lowe, but she is still a force at the net.

Unless Gabby Mallette becomes a 6 rotation player, I would think that Recek and Snyder would get the start at the beginning of the season and both would play 6 rotations. Mallette would come in off of the bench for whoever struggles on the outside.
