Just wondering, do people think that Florida has a shot at making it to the final four this upcoming season? I would argue that the Gators may have the best middles and opposite combination in the country along with Texas. However, I think that the backcourt, left sides, and setting leaves something to be desired. If the lefts are producing, this team will at least make the final four.

Antwi/Joseph would need a lot to be considered top middles. Florida may have the best middle (not plural) and opposite combo. Although Penn State has something to say about that.... maybe even Nebraska. If Holman can play, Holman/Foecke are a really good combo. Also Lutz/Hodson could be a great pair as well. Ogbogu, McCage and Nwanebu good as well. I think in 2016 Florida has a great chance as well, possibly even greater than 2015. With Darielle King in the middle and Florida beefing up the pins, they could be a scary team to face.

Holston and Alhassan are obviously going to be offensive weapons for Florida. Antwi and Joseph can be good, but I feel like both of them are pretty streaky. If one of them can become consistent, then Florida will be that much more dangerous of a team. If their outsides can both play 6 rotations (which is why I would like Snyder and Recek to play) then I think Florida's passing will be fine.

So what happened to Recek, you know...that former national FOY? I was surprised when she won FOY to begin with, and I'm a Florida fan. In the seasons since then, she's had some injury issues and just hasn't improved much. It's interesting that some people are saying she should be a six rotation player. Yet when she played back row early on she was very inconsistent, especially on serve receive. Teams would target her, she'd shank one and then it would affect her whole game. I can remember several instances in which Florida had leads and then crumpled after a Recek shank. Unless her passing and confidence has improved a lot, I'd say keep her off the back row.

Anyone catch the scrimmage today? Thoughts? Was curious myself, anyone? I went. The back row played better than I was expecting them to. O'Rourke was excellent and has earned the starting Libero position. Rogers, Dubiel, newcomer Bzoch all made some plays, many brilliant ones. Monserez was good as a defender , too, but must redshirt this season. All the big kids got a look or two in the back as well, so perhaps they may be thinking another six rotation player in addition to Holston. Holston is the right side and looks better than ever, All Hassan's timing is improved, and they seem to be sitting her higher better. She is experimenting with a jump float serve and doing ok. Better speed but accuracy still needs to follow. Dagostino looked fine and Detering has come along well, but the job is Mac's solidly. Snyder, Mallette, Joseph, and Recek give a lot of options. Snyder seems like th most complete player, with back row kills as well as front, some blocking and power. I am guessing she is the starter. Joseph has the best jumps, Mallette still hit the heaviest ball, blocks well. Recek has good command of the court and shots. The latter three bring different skills , but should all see action. Al Hassan and Antwi are the middles, but Kellum will see plenty of time in relief. All in all, I think UF is better at individual positions and better as an over all team this early as they have been in years.. Predictions: SEC Champs, Home NCAA first and second round,... highly likely. Elite eight, probable. Final Four, coin toss. Beyond, I'll certainly be there yelling!

I was thinking they should definitely be a contender this year and if those defensive players are stepping up like you say I can see them as a final 4 team. Looking forward to seeing them in Austin.

Is Snyder going to play 6 rotations this season? IfI was coaching, she would! Yesterday, she looked great from anywhere. It looked like the coaching staff was lookiing at bigs in the back row and Carli was the best, next to Alex.

Why does Mackenzie Dagostino have "Dagastino" written on the back of her jersey?
