Thank you for the updates JB. Really agitating in 2015 that the tour can't hire a kid for $10/hour to find scores and live-tweet them as matches are played. I was really excited to see what Donald Sun could do to grow this tour, but I have been extremely underwhelmed by his ability to grow the game.
Had to get that off my chest: Getting back to the brackets, definitely an interesting shake-up with the Hyden/Bourne drop-out.
For the top quarter, I'm intrigued to see what Lawson can do on the beach - He was an animal in the National Championship the year they won it, depending on how refined he is he and Roberts could give the Bomgrens some trouble. Pitlik is someone to keep your eye on moving forward, he's a transplant from the Midwest, but he's 6'8 built like a tank and is as hungry to make the tour as anyone I've met. He's still raw as he only started playing less than 3 years ago and I haven't seen him train the last season as he's moved to the West Coast but I think with another year or two he's got potential to make a splash.
The second quarter is sneaky good. Paulis battled injuries last year but is explosive and has been making a splash on the AVPNext tour. Didn't see Riley Salmon on the tour last year but it'll be fun to see what kind of shape he's in as a player. Araiza had some big wins last year, he and Parra could do some damage. Cabbage/Moran are a new partnership from what I've seen, both have played a lot of tournaments, it'll be interesting to see if they mesh.
The third quarter strikes me as fairly weak - looks like mostly TX teams I haven't heard of. The top half is where most of the familiar names are - the 30/35 of hastings/lynch vs. crabb/mclachlin is interesting, they could be darkhorses of this group. 6 seed hasn't done any qualifiers before and are 6'0 and 6'2... I think 6'9 McCarthy and 6'4 Buehring are the heavy favorites here. Lesneski/Van Zwieten is probably the only other competition here (I could just be naive to the locals that I don't recognize, not meant to be disrespectful).
The fourth quarter has some decent talent too - Donahue/Burik are the heavy favorites in my eyes. Hilling is creeping up the ranks, great to see Ed Lunnen playing again. Phipps loves causing chaos in the qualifiers and his partner Gustafson has been slowly coming into his own. Davis/Jelks started slowly last season as Jelks had a foot injury but they played some great ball towards the end of last year, almost upsetting Mackenzie/Bates in Atlantic City.
Excited that the 2015 season has begun!

Are they going top-to-bottom like they normally do? Are you at the event? Do you have scores for the other 1st-round matches? Bvb doesn't have updates yet.

We may have to start a womens thread after all: 13 Lambert / Steiner 21-11, 21-3 (0:29) 4 Schuh / Stubinski
Kerri & Jess stomped Bridget and her partner. They both have been working hard and if they make it in then it is highly doubtful they will partake in the remaining NVL events.

Nice to see San Diego representing.
