Lanier and Sun will be a very imposing duo of OHs. But who's gonna pass? Both can pass

How many subs are allowed in the USA Youth 18 world championship? The World Championships in Peru will be played using FIVB rules, which means 6/1 sub rules. Six team subs, one entry per player.

Lanier is a pretty solid first touch. Sun, not so much. Don't sell Hart and Milana short. Both can crush and pass!

Hart's really been making gains with her game. I agree.

This is a bunch of talent that USAVB has assembled. Tryout should be intense. Will be interesting to see where Stone puts a couple of the girls. Most of the girls play 17's. Will they be able to handle the tougher serving and bigger block that they will no doubt see? For those few that are playing 18's I would think that they might be a little more prepared for the heat that they will experience. Most all hitters/middles will be flat crushing the ball, but how often do the 17's see it coming back that way? Should be real interesting. Congratulations to them all and GO USA!!!

I agree. This is a very talented group of players assembled. I am hoping for a podium finish. Best of luck to these girls.
And I have noticed, Florida's 2015-2017 recruits are really tall (6'2-6'5). They are adding some serious height in Gainesville.
My pick for the starting spots:
OH - Lanier, Sun MB - Stivrins, Pittman Opp - Plummer S - Shook L - Hentz

Has anyone seen Butler play? I've seen a video of her hit and man can she elevate. She has a ridiculous jump touch and wingspan. She reminds me a bit of Alhassan. I think she'll take one of the starting MB spots. Regarding the OHs, I'd like to see Lanier and Sun, but I echo some concerns about who's going to anchor the passing between the two. I don't think Sun is a strong enough passer yet.

Any projections on starters? I would assume Lanier, Sun, Pittman, Stivrins, Lanier, Plummer are locks? I don't know much about the middles going but I would think the lineup will be: OH: Sun and Lanier MB: Stivrins and Butler/Pittman(?) S: Shook Opp: Plummer L: Hentz Oops. Guess you'll have to find another libero.

Plummer's not officially committed to Stanford. I didn't realize that wasn't official yet. It's still very much up in the air.

Have you watched the top 17's team in Open? I've seen stronger teams like TAV at 17's than 95% of 18's teams.
