Does anyone know if he was forced off by the AD or if he had personal reasons to leave? I feel like if I was him I would definitely not quit this year... PSU is at its weakest! This could be the year to win the EIVAs!

Do the Patriots go after Jay Hosack to be their new head coach?

Do the Patriots go after Jay Hosack to be their new head coach? He has to the one of the best choices out there among assistants. He deserves a shot. Who else would be candidates? Would Ferguson come east? Would Price even be considered? Can they lure Sullivan away?

It all depends on what the administration wants for their program. If they are looking to be a legit contender, then they go after one of those candidates. If they are not willing to up the ante and compete with PSU or others like it in terms of spending $ where needed, then they will be right where they are now, and not get a top notch coach. It will be interesting to see what they do here.

Hudson would be a great choice but would that mean he would have to give up his pro beach career? Knew Fred a little around the time he took the job. Not close friends or anything, just played against him and in a few of his tournaments. Always seemed like a good guy. Hope this is a step up for him.

Hudson has a great resume and has accomplished a lot as a player. But what has he done as a coach to get a job like that? He has to win at Marymount before he would get that kind of promotion.

A team like what?
They haven't been to the post season in how long? And they are likely to see budget cuts coming soon. Fred's 2011 salary was published as $41,000 - has it gone up dramatically? What makes this a good job, that somebody like Hosack or Sullivan (or Shibuya, Byron, Ginex, Petrus, Kolek, etc etc) would be interested?
Shwaryn, with all the shenanigans at Juniata, maybe he'd consider it? I don't know. I'd be surprised if this is a big hire.

You are definitely the realist in this situation. I wish they would make that big hire with the talent they are going to have this coming year.

Maybe those kids will opt out and now go somewhere else. They have that option.

With the salary that low and no support in the way of assistant coaches or graduate assistants they wont draw Hudson or anyone else for that matter. Its such a shame that GMU, one of the only D1 programs on the East Coast and the only one where VA players can get in state tuition, is not more financially supportive of this program. Possibly an good opportunity for a young coach who doesn't have a family to support but has good technical skills and coaching ability. There are many assistants out there not making that money elsewhere who might see it as an opportunity to get in the door at the D1 level. For the sake of the men who have committed to GMU and the future athletes, I certainly hope they can replace Fred with someone of his caliber.
