I'm curious.. Does anyone know the top speeds for Hancock, Bricio, D'errico, Ward, Larson, Tom...
What NCAA players have had the fastest arm?

Also some of those players you mentioned don't serve it that "fast".

Also some of those players you mentioned don't serve it that "fast". Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I recall Al Scates saying that Samantha Bricio's serve speed was the highest in the Pac-12 (on average). I think it was somewhere in the mid-50's.

I imagine Strickland's is pretty high, too!

The servers who can vary their serves in spin and speed often appear to be "sneaky fast", even when they aren't.

I wouldnt be surprised if bricio serve was mid 50's, I also would not be surprised if it was was the highest in the Pac 12 (there weren't many quality jump servers in the Pac 12 last year). The OP was asking about "top" speeds for ncaa players and top speeds can get into the 60's. Players that can do that are players like Fawcett and Cutura or less known but still impressive Mira Druijic or Jill Collymore. Most of the players listed in the OP list can't match the sheer velocity of serve of the players I just mentioned (NCAA level).

Fastest I've ever seen was Fawcett hitting 63.
Jordan was high 50s usually.
Logan would vary from high 40s to high 50s, because she would hit these weird side-spinning balls that weren't all that fast but really tough to pass.

Most people are going to reply with opinions, but I doubt any (except Joe) have seen the radar guns from any of these players. "Hard" servers in the collegiate game are in the low to mid 50's.

I suspect it's like baseball--all that speed is great if there is movement on the ball. If it's nothing but straight line, it's easier to deal with.

I agree.
That's why most spin servers aren't very good. Very few hit hard enough to justify the extra misses. One of the few effective spin servers in international volleyball right now is (was?) Neslihan who had a big hook to her serve that made it tough to pass.

All these guesses are way off. I've seen a top Pac-12 server clocked by her coach with a radar gun during practice and 41 MPH was her top speed.
