Canisius wins the opening Western New York Tourney. They are loaded team with 5 of the 7 players as starters of the Eden VBC 16 or 17's team, including 2 A1 Select players and a deep bench to boot. Chas Palka was thrust into the setter role for Canisius and was really solid in all aspects. Terrific team and well coached by Tom Weislo.
Calvin Nowicki, Eden's setter, was spectacular. He and Declan Pierce led a very fast and explosive Eden team to the Title match. Very fun team to watch.

What are the predictions for the event? Obviously, Canisius and Eden seem to be the two buffalo favorites.

some are bit up this year, some a bit down by graduation and some are carried by 1 or 2 players.
On paper I would guess but that means nothing in this tourney. Eden,Oswego, Lancaster(if healthy) ,McQuaid, WSW, Penfield, Canisius and Bethlehem advance.

Great pics - thanks future. Awesome to see your enthusiasm for our game. Does anyone have predictions on tomorrow's NYS tournament? I see McQuaid and Sachem North going to tiebreaks and five sets in the state final in one of the best matches we will ever see at the high school level. I am very excited to see this tournament. There are a lot of quality collegiate players on most of the teams. My prediction is a coin flip between McQuaid and SN. Both schools field teams of 18s Open level players (or 17s Open at minimum). I see a McQuaid win in 5, 23-21 5th set. Mcquaid won pretty easily over Sachem 3-0 in the finals and 2-0 in pool play. Being that Canisius beat Mcquaid twice and won 5 or 6 tourneys going undefeated for the year they would be my vote for #1 this year. www.democratandchronicle.com/story/sports/high-school/2015/11/21/mcquaid-brighton-win-state-volleyball-titles/76203824/Good year of NY VB. On to Club.

Thanks for the pics and coverage future. It's great to see good people like you supporting our game. I hope you keep coaching after your kids have all gone to college - young players need your knowledge!!
