Haggerty and Fien are pretty good 3rd OH's and middles. Always nice to know if we have a kid struggle, we can bring in not just a sub, but a high level experience player. They would have won a ton more matches last season if they had that. Will be some good healthy battles everyday in practice.

Nebraska a perfect 20-for-20 siding out in final two games. Boender had her 11 digs in basically one game.
Pittsburgh at 7:00 will be the toughest match of the weekend, and a chance for John Cook to get win No. 600.

I'm not sure why Pitt should be a tough match for Nebraska. I'm not familiar with their coach, but they didn't appear to beat a ranked team last year (although they played Florida State tough.) Is there any player on the Pitt roster that would get playing time at Nebraska?

Is there any player on the Pitt roster that would get playing time at Nebraska? They were a bubble team last year, that was a swing away from beating both FSU and UNC last year. Their coach one the gold medal at the pan am games this summer with the B team, and won a national championship while at Concordia. They have size and talent as well. Nebraska has also had a blip on their early radar over the past 5 years. That is specifically why this could be a very tough match. Pitt has all of Nebraska's attention.

Pitt has an HM-AA middle, a 6-3 RS, another 6-3 middle, and another 6-4 grad transfer from Houston who was third in the country in kills last year.
If they can pass, they'll give Nebraska problems.

Another good win for the 'skers. The ladies seemed to play a lot looser this afternoon than they did last night. Similar to set 1 against Tulsa, the first set today was riddled with some sloppy play: a few balls hit into the net, some stuffed plays because hitters didn't adjust, a couple over-digs here and there... After that, though, the team played some solid volleyball in the last two sets--only two attack errors and a PERFECT side-out percentage! I gotta say the biggest treat for the fans isn't the new jumbotron or sound system but the return of the diversified Husker offense led by Kelly. Last night there were 31 attempts by the middles, 23 on the right and 48 for the OHs. This afternoon's match was largely dominated by the OHs to provide Kelsey, Olivia, and Kadie some more reps, but Kelly's (and Justine's) ability to set seemingly anywhere on the court with precise location has really gotten the offense going in the middle and right, too. Here's this afternoon's spread of attacks:
29 attempts from the middles, hitting .379, with 15 kills and 4 errors.
20 attempts from OPP(s) and Kelly, clipping .450, with 11 kills and 2 errors.
52 attempts for OHs, hitting .423, with 24 kills and 2 errors.
While our attack should be much more potent this year, we might see a downgrade in blocking. My only criticism thus far is that our right-side block was still fairly nonexistent and quite substandard today compared to last year and other past seasons (fortunately we're anchored by a fabulous back-row lineup of Justine, Kenzie and Anni). The lacking block may be adequate enough to get us past Tulsa, Grand Canyon, and maybe Pitt tonight, but we're gonna have to turn up by the time the B1G starts.
Anyway, can't wait for tonight's match, which should provide the ladies with a greater challenge against Pitt, and it will be a good gauge of how the players can turn around and play right away à la back-to-back games in the B1G. #GBR!

Foecke is a freshman, and it is VERY rare that freshman block well. Mary was a top level blocking setter. No surprise at all that those two arent blocking at the level of Mary and Amber, who were exceptional blockers.

Huskers kept their sellout streak alive this afternoon. They were a little concerned given they dont really ever play during the day.
