It's always a little difficult to appraise a performance when watching streaming video, and I did not see the whole match. All in all, however, you can't complain about a sweep against a team that returned a number of players and took the Huskies to five sets each of the last two years. Schwan is going to be a huge factor for the Huskies this year. Between her solid passing and smart shots (though I wish she would be more aggressive and dink less often), I think she'll have a nice season. Beals got the start, which I wasn't so sure about after the scrimmage last week, but she appeared to do well. Sybeldon looks unstoppable on a decent set (though the Zags defense probably isn't up to the standard of many Pac 12 teams). Still, if there's anything close to a sure thing for the Huskies, it's Sybeldon putting down good sets. DeHoog got the start at Opp2 and I thought she looked good in the limited action I saw, but her hitting percentage (.000) obviously needs to improve. I guess that's what the pre-season is for. I would love to see Julye get some playing time, especially in the remaining matches this weekend.

I watched the match in person and came away with the following:
S- Beals looks to be a step slow and had some trouble with location. There was a moment in the second set where I thought Finau might have been subbed in. Tanner was also OK though she didn't have the ahhh sets like Beals.
OH- Schwan looked strong passing, but seemed too eager to it roll shots (can't believe I'm saying that given her hitting %) OH- Scambray looked solid, and is probably their go to hitter this year. RS- I thought DeHoog looked pretty darn good. One of the reasons her hitting % was so bad was poor set locations. On at least 3 occasions the sets were pushed outside the pins which were chalked up as hitting errors. MH- Sybeldon is a monster. I've been a bit skeptical but she really did look damn good. L- Cassie looked damn good. Her serve is intimidating and she is clearly the leader on the court.
