Looks like this should have been the feature match after all.
Most dismissed the Shockers chances against OSU but WSU threw a monkey in that wrench by winning the big points late and surprising the Beavers in a sweep, 25-23, 26-24, 25-19.
Hawaii was a little sloppy in their dismantling of the Vandals late last night 25-18, 25-23, 25-19 but unlike the WSU-OSU match, the Rainbow Wahine win was never in any doubt.
Everyone knows Hawaii is more talented. WSU is 0-4 all time against UH but they've had some competitive matches. In 2007 UH had to come back from 0-2 down to beat the Shocks in 5 and win the tournament.
Can WSU push UH tonight? I don't know. Didn't sound like WSU scored well at all last night. Plenty of room for improvement there but their defense was really good, something Lambo has been excited about all off season.
Looking forward to a good match and a better measuring stick for where our team is late tonight. Hope I can stay awake for it.
Go Shocks!

What's a shocker? Is that someone having their hair standing up on end cuz of electricity?

Or maybe cuz of just a bad hair day in windy Kansas?

My initial guess was that Wichita was known for its pioneering days of the electric utility in the midwest. Totally wild guess based on the term "shocker." That was totally wrong. Per wikipedia, a shocker is a harvester of wheat.

For the insanely curious from Wikipedia:
The name for WSU's athletic teams is the Shockers and, collectively, students are also referred to as being "Shockers". The name reflects the university's heritage. Early students at what was then Fairmount College earned money by shocking, or harvesting, wheat in nearby fields. Early football games were played on a stubbled wheat field. Pep club members were known as Wheaties. Tradition has it that in 1904, football manager and student R.J. Kirk came up with the nickname Wheatshockers.[2] Although the Wheatshockers name was never officially adopted by the university, it caught on among the fan base. Newspaper writers also liked it because it was easily shortened to "Shockers" in headlines, and the shorter name was officially adopted by around the time Fairmount became the Municipal University of Wichita in 1926.

Was hoping to have an interesting conversation about a quality volleyball match, but alas, we're going to be childish about how to change a W into a urban dictionary piece of humor. So be it.
The internet feed does not require a subscription does it?

The internet feed does not require a subscription does it? No, but you should just use bigwest.org/tv to catch all Big West matches. And as Cindy Luis mentioned, BW uses the OC 16 feed anyway.

Wichita St. comes to the Hawaii tournaments fairly often so I've actually become a fan of them and Chris Lamb. Should be a great match!
