Just want to see who you guys think would get the awards after this weekend. Player of the Week: Michelle Strizak (Illinois)- She had 33 kills and just only three errors. She was crowned the MVP of the tournament. Defensive Player of the Week:Taylor Morey (Wisconsin)- Even though Wisconsin did lose against Western Kentucky she still had a good weekend. Setter of the Week: Kelly Hunter (Nebraska)- She was crowned MVP, I didn't watch any games but I'm going off of her award. Not really sure who did that great this weekend even Carlini did not have great connection with her hitters. It's early in the season so it's hard for setters to look too great. I do not know who would win. Freshman of the Week: Alexa Smith (Purdue)- Even though she may have only played one full game (I believe) she hit .529 with 9 kills no errors. Either Smith, Roecke, or Poulter I believe.

Defensive Player of the Week:Taylor Morey (Wisconsin)- Even though Wisconsin did lose against Western Kentucky she still had a good weekend. Not as good as Brandi Donnelly at Illinois or Justine Wong-Orantes at Nebraska. Plus both of those defenders won their matches this weekend.

So far the B1G is 33-7 in preconference play with losses coming from Indiana (1), MSU (1), Minnesota (1), OSU (1), Rutgers (2), and Wisconsin (1).

Player- Strizak Setter- Hunter Freshman- Poulter Defense- Donnelly Poulter set her team to a .289 margin this weekend. I think FOW will be between Mikaela Foecke (23 kills-5 errors on 53 attempts, hitting .340) or Alexa Smith (12 kills-1 error on 23 attempts, hitting .478).

I think Maryland's Adreené Elliott has a really good shot at player of the week. Pre-conference season is also a good time to recognize players not on teams competing for the B1G title.

By all means. Lets turn the B1G awards into another participation farce. Surely we can find players from Rutgers and Indiana that need to be "recognized".
