I dont know why we even bother having a season CLEARLY Texas and Illinois are going to play for the title. I would love to see Illinois get to the FF. They are a dark horse. It would be a great treat for college volleyball fans to watch Jordyn Poulter set in the Final Four. She is an amazing player...already in total control of her Illini team as a freshman.

OK, ten bucks. We can go on our honor, or we can designate a third party and send a check to them! OK, I will volunteer and that is where I live. I will keep the honor, however, I only accept large honor such as $1000 each. Deal? Send them my way.

I think USC's rank is fair considering what they displayed. Look forward to see UT perform against some top talent. Anyone have any idea how Colorado St always gets such respect? They made the Sweet 16 last year. Beat eventual runner up BYU (ranked #9 I think when CSU played them) early in the season, beat Arizona St. (ranked 18/19) on their home floor, and nearly ran the MW (only 1 loss). Then ended up beating ranked Colorado in the round of 32 in the tournament. They are a good team despite not being in a Power 5.

MW does not have the most competition in it so I was wondering what their out of conf had been.

She is an amazing player...already in total control of her Illini team as a freshman. We've seen many a treat in the setting position at the FF. Is she going to be better than Misty may was at the FF? Bremner, Carlini, Holloway, Spicer, Endicott, Hancock .......... We all know Poulter is a special player, she doesn't need a campaign. Lets let the best illinois team in history get to the FF, and allow Poulter to accomplish something before we get so jacked up. I think Illinois is going to be really good, and Poulter an elite player, but for petes sake, let it happen before anointing them or her.

You have to love UCLA at 20, LMU not in poll. If it were week 8 and both teams were where they deserved to be a week ago I could see it. But after pre-season and LMU beats UCLA? Somebody make sense of that for me. That's why I hate pre-season polls, they shape and dictate season polls. Speculation should never trump actual results

Not sure how the Bruins stay in top 25.

But UCLA beat Virginia. ...does get a bit confusing. Basically, (I hope) the committee does the best they can with preseason poll, which will always need major corrections after first couple weeks. UCLA dropped in poll, which was correct. If they lose next week, they'll drop out of top 25. If LMU wins next 4 matches, they'll start knocking on top 25. If Virginia wins next 10, they'll be knocking.

didnt see that UVA beat LMU. Sounds like none of them should be in! Woa woa.... Rumor is LMU's setter went down in the second set forcing Sponcil to set. Taking her(Sponcil) out of their offense and serve receive. I don't think Virginia had a chance until that happened. the injury to lmu's setter is mentioned in the school's press release on the match: www.lmulions.com/sports/w-volley/recaps/082815aab.html

Huge jump by USC. I'm interested to see how their season shakes out.
On the positives, Bricio looks better than ever, Johnson is a major upgrade as a setter (even for just 3 rotations), Abercrombie is a stud on the right, Ford has a solid motor and good upside on the left, and the middles look more active on both sides of the ball. Perhaps most important is that the team looks like they are having fun and enjoying each other out there.
The only thing that makes me nervous if I'm a USC fan is that Bricio is taking a LOT of swings. She was red hot this weekend, but she has been up and down over her career and if all of USC's success is riding on her shoulder, that's a lot of pressure to deliver. Also, not sure why Pizza is still setting, or why Johnson is hitting when Johnson seems to be the clear option to run a 5-1. If USC gets their middles more involved and Bricio/Abercrombie hit consistently, USC will be mighty tough this season.

Had surgery last Thursday on the knee, ugghh, but it allowed me to sit and watch the televised matches, here is my opinion, I know it's early in the season and I am on a high dose of pain meds LOL, seriously though....just my opinion:
PSU-haven't seen them yet but I'm sure no matter who they played, PSU would play well for the season openings.....they deserve the 1st spot until proven otherwise.
Stanford- While Texas A&M stuck with Stanford at the beginning of the match and each set, Stanford is very strong all the way around, the MB position is held up nicely by the bench, they still dominate. Haley Hodson made a statement with that first swing of her collegiate career, saying " I'm here". Monster first swing! She will be wonderful for Stanford. They deserve #2 until proven otherwise as well. I will say, they better make it to Omaha this year for the FF, a team this stacked would be a shame not to showcase that in December. I rematch with PSU would be amazing, but I'd say I could see them slugging it out in the final PSU vs. Stanford.
Texas- They do not look like #3 in the nation right now. Sorry...they don't. I like Amy Neal, think she is a great player and has earned her stripes for sure, but to rely on her skills for the season, no way. Texas will get bounced at home in the regional final, if they make it that far. JE needs to re-work his lineup, especially for this weekend, big dogs coming to town....not UCI, LSU and Rice.....Florida and Nebraska.....Texas didn't look ready this last weekend for competition of that caliber yet. I hope JE can get this team healthy, there is a ton of talent here, needs to use them wisely to go far. Potential- YES, are they #3 now, absolutely not.
Florida, Nebraska- Haven't seen them yet, I'm excited to see them this weekend live here in Austin.
USC/BYU/UNC/A&M/Colorado/FL. State etc etc...they looked good. Will be a great season again, lot's of good teams....
