Some of those questions will be answered with Ebony in the line up. Texas will go back to the 6-2 with Molly & Ebony at OP. Neal is definitely going to be relied on heavily. Her serving and defense were great this first weekend, passing had a couple of shaky moments but IMO better than last year. Prieto needs to step it up and be more aggressive on offense otherwise I'd rather have Yazzie in there swinging away like she did last weekend. The competition for the second OH will heat up as soon as White is back on the court. Agree, but then do you do double sub, 5-1 or 6-2 given what we saw from Nicole this weekend, and admittedly since coming into TX? Not sure Amy is the answer. Paul Sunderland, my vb analyst idol, stated, and I agree, that if TX relies as heavily on Amy as they did this weekend (primarily because of shaky passing, out of system balls), they will not beat the elite teams. This year, NE and FL are elite. She is a smart hitter, but tends to be blocked a lot and make more errors when up against bigger blocks (see BYU). I do love her serve...defense is good. Passing is still not six rotation-worthy. Amy wasn't the only one with passing issues, though. Lots of questions, in my opinion. I'm TX will figure it out. Just not as confident their passing, setting and OH situations will be good enough. All kind of interrelated things (i.e. passing breaks down, OH gets more action. TX strengths are at MH and RS). Ebony may be the key to out of system and OH limitations. Looking forward to this weekend for that reason.

I don't know if it will happen, but I could see Texas using Nwanebu as a OH2 because she is one of the better passers and hits extremely well from the back row. This would allow Johnson to stay at Middle and McCage at RS(if they stay in a 5-1).

Gotta get the ball distributed well with this team because their strength is the MH.

I should have clarified that she is one of the better passers and defense of the OH and RS players.

Texas, like always, will be good and will have shortcomings just like every other team.

So glad Nebraska and Texas have continued to play each other every season despite the conference realignment issues of several years ago; great volleyball rivalry. Will be curious to see how this annual tourney affects on-campus matchups when Florida and Oregon host this even in the coming years. This doesn't have any effect on Friday's match, but I don't Nebraska has won at Gregory Gym since 2005. And, hasn't beaten Texas since 2008. I think you'll get matched with Florida next year. Oregon hosts a home-and-home in football with Nebraska in 2016 and 2017, so I assume the Ducks are going to take a match-up with Nebraska and try to cross-promote the heck out of it. (The teams will also have played enough in the past few years that a VB cross-divisional rivalry might be built up). Well, since Oregon and Texas don't play in this season's showcase, I would think the chances are high that Oregon would choose Texas as an opponent next season; but, you never know the reasons a head coach has for choosing their opponent(s) in this type of event. So, I'd say Texas could be making a visit to Lincoln next season to keep the annual non-conference series going. In 2017 & 2018, I would expect Florida and Nebraska coaches to select Texas as one of their opponents when they host this event, but nothing is guaranteed. They may decided playing a Pac 12 school like Oregon has more value to RPI, etc.

If you base it strictly on "RPI value", most years playing Texas and Florida would be more helpful than playing Oregon.

I expected there to be a lot more banter on this thread; found thread buried on page 3 and it reads like a kumbaya fest!
elavationvb must be still wrestling with that alligator and the internet must not be working up in the corner of Nebraska for HolidayHusker.

It will also be shown on LHN for those that get it. FYI Can you believe Cox Communications (omaha) does not have contract with Longhorn Network, either does CenturyLink (omaha). Knowing Texas their fee was probably outrageous. Dish and Directv have contracts.

ESPN probably does not market LHN to infringe on BTN or SECNet (I don't know....just thinking).
Down here in Texas we do get BTN, SECNet, PAC12Net, BYU, all the Fox, CBSS, and like 8 ESPNs (dodgeball is on espn y ocho ) and it is probably because there are 30M+ people in the state and majority are from other states.

I'm unclear about this as the link has Cox communication as provider of LHN espn.go.com/longhornnetwork/getaccessAlso, I'm fairly sure I use a Cox Communication login to watch the LHN games online through WatchESPN. Is it different regionally?
