OK RUMBLEinRIO, what is your prediction for Friday? Nebraska is gonna win this one, boo. Texas will likely be the better blocking team, even with a shorter setter. IMO Nebraska’s right-side block is adequately lacking enough to let Neal and Prieto-Cerame have big matches offensively. (Of course I hope I’m wrong about this!) The attacking will likely be a draw, because both teams will come to the match with at least four quality spikers. However, I believe the first and second balls will be better controlled by the Huskers. I’m not concerned about our floor defense, because we normally have been able to “hang in there” with the Longhorn attackers (except Destinee); we just haven’t been able to terminate long rallies with big kills. I also think the setting will be in Nebraska’s edge, thanks to Hunter’s faster and more consistent offense and the OOS sets from Justine.

Will be curious to see how Hunter plays in her first match in a hostile environment. IMO, the key to frustrating Texas is for the opponent to continually block or get good touches on Amy Neal and whoever else is playing OH; if Nebraska's RS or setter can't do that, I like Texas' chances.

I also think the setting will be in Nebraska’s edge, thanks to Hunter’s faster and more consistent offense and the OOS sets from Justine. Take that weak analysis back to Omaha! Texas is the better blocking team! Texas is better attacking team with Chi, Johnson, Nwanebu, and McCage so if Neal has a big game offensively then the Cornhuskers lay an egg in Austin! Huskers may have edge in ball control, but this year gap may not be big.
My prediction is RUMBLE will be on 6th St. crying in his beer wearing a wet shirt......Longhorns in 4
Let me know what weak red Nebraska shirt you are wearing so I can identify you cause I have a water ballon for you !

I don't know if it will happen, but I could see Texas using Nwanebu as a OH2 because she is one of the better passers and hits extremely well from the back row. This would allow Johnson to stay at Middle and McCage at RS(if they stay in a 5-1). When was the last time Nwanebu was used as a passer on serve-receive? I can't remember her doing any passing at USC or on her TAV club team...

I can't verify, but I think I remember Mick had used her a little in server receive her freshman year. I believe I also saw her in Montreaux in serve receive during the tournament where she hurt her back. (only thing I am 100% on is HS and before TAV18)
Not saying it is going to happen, but would be interesting if they ran a 5-1 and she played OH2 to keep Johnson on floor.

Indeed, it will be interesting to see how the newcomers respond to a packed Gregory Gym and Texas' physicality. If Nebraska can pass at a high level, I don't think Kelly's setting will falter.

If you have *some* access to WatchESPN, simply try to view LHN today. If it works today, it will work Friday. If it doesn't work today, it won't work Friday.

Haha let's make a wager...whoever loses has to change his screenname and profile pic to whatever the winner chooses until December 19, a couple days after the Huskers sweep the Longhorns in the semifinals.

Neither of us wants to suffer with a terrible screen name until 12/19. Let's make it the loser has to keep the screen name for 30 days from when changed.

Don't underestimate Nebraska's blocking ability! They led the B1G in blocking last season, and they return their strongest blockers in Amber, Haggerty, and Kadie! The Huskers have a strong advantage on the left side against a 5'7" Collins, with 2 returning All-Big OHs in Kadie Rolfzen and Kelsey Fien. We've all seen Nebraska's middle attack when it catches fire, and when it does, the Huskers will win faster than you can say, "HORNS DOWN"!!

Maybe a slightly different take on the same topics.... Texas is a great attacking team when in system. When out of system, at least this year, they are not good at all. OH hitter edge in all phases goes to NE. TX doesn't have the players at that position this year. Amy Neal plays well against low-level competition but does not do the same against elite teams. Setting is, without a doubt, edge to NE. Size of block, location, decision-making. Chloe looks better this year, but she's not Hunter. Passing and defense, without a doubt, are edge NE. TX's defense is fine, but passing has not improved to the point it needs to be. Libero edge goes to NE, particularly in passing. The other Cat's passing can break down. Her defense is good. Kat Brooks is not good. Her passing and defense and out of system setting are just plain not D1 elite....heck, they're not D1 middle of the road. Rewind Paul Sunderland's critique of TX from the weekend. It comes down to reliance on Amy Neal because of serve receive. Blocking is definitely edge TX. Foecke is better than Johnson, Passing, Chloe's block, Chiaka and Ebony are the key to the match. IF Ebony is in form, out of system balls are not as big of an issue. I just don't think Ebony is back 100, even 75%...if she was, they'd have played her last weekend to get her in game situations.

Will Fien even play, sounds like she is behind Albretch?
When was the last time Nebraska's middle attack caught fire? Baaahahaha
Collins may be 5'7", but she also has the second best vertical in inches to Chi on UT so she will be OK.
This match will come down to (as usual for Texas) ball control. If Texas is passing like they should be with McCoy, Brooks, and Neal then Chi, MJ, Nwanebu, and McCage feast on corn all day long!
