Who you got??
Men
Team of the Year? - (My answers) TBD, If the same team wins both remaining, it will probably be them
Player of the Year? - TBD
Rookie of the Year? (less than 3 MDs before this season) - I'm going with Page. Followed closely by Taylor Crabb
Most Improved? - AVATAR
Defensive POY? - Leaning Mayer, but could change
Offensive POY? - Leaning Patterson, but could change
**Phil,Nick,Bourne, Hyden haven't played enough to matter yet IMO **
Woman
Team of the Year? - Day/Kessy's to lose, and it could happen
Player of the Year? - These last 2 will determine it. If April plays HB and wins, it's hers. There are prob. 3 nipping at her heals.
Rookie of the Year? - Sara Hughes
Most Improved? - Kendra VZ
Defensive POY? - Kendra VZ
Offensive POY? - April if she plays HB, otherwise Kessy or Nicole

Men
Team of the Year? - Phil/Nick
Player of the Year? - Phil
Rookie of the Year? Taylor Crabb slightly over Page
Most Improved? - Tramblie. I don't agree with Ryan or think he has improved that much. He is still so inconsistent. He and Mayer should have destroyed Tramblie/Keenan given that opportunity and they choked. Unless he wins another event this year, this is a disappointing season for him.
Defensive POY - Nick
Offensive POY - Phil. Watched Allison/Bruno make Patterson look like Lucena did at Long Beach. Only one real candidate here.
Woman
Team of the Year - April/Jen. (Im assuming you were joking about Day/Kessey)
Player of the Year - April not close at all
Rookie of the Year - Sara Hughes/Kelly Claes together.
Most Improved - Kendra VZ (I think Nicole here but thats more of a comeback player)
Defensive POY - Would love Kendra but its April
Offensive POY - April
I'll add:
Most Disappointing:
Men individual: Sean Rosenthal
Men Team: Hyden/Bourne
Women individual: Lane Carico
Women team: Ross/Carico

1st, these picks were for only AVP.
Team: Nick/Phil need to play in the last 2 before I crown them.
I can live with Taylor over Page, but could change over these last 2.
MIP Men: There are a few others I'd put in before Tramblie, winner of weakest AVP of the year. But I'll defend my AVATAR pick 1st: Not taken worse than a Tie for 3rd this year, after taking a 7th & 9th last year with a better partner. Setting, passing and serving all better this year.
If it wasn't for the win, I'd put Trevor Crabb and Billy Kolinske over Ty as well. I'm not sure he got better, just got a better partner in the weakest tournament.
Women: If Day/Kessy win these last 2, They'll get my vote. They could lose to Nicole/Kropp. The team of April/Jen is done, with only 3 tournaments played. Not enough in my books.
OK with split Rookie, almost did that, but seemed like there was a clear "better player" now.
Most Disappointing (nice add)
Sean for sure
Team: Sean & Various partners (H&B could catch Sean if they tank the last 2, but have a 2nd and 3rd for AVPs)
women: Dowdy for me, I just thought she'd take advantage of teams being away. Was only a 5th seed in watered down Chi AVP.
Ross/Carico didn't play enough AVPs

I was kind of thinking of it as AVP only as I went through, but then I wanted to argue against Casey for offense and thought of that game last weekend.
I didnt even think of Kolinske for most improved, but he would be a good choice,if Ty hadn't won.
Good point about Jen/April not playing AVP any more this year. I would love to see three straight from Nicole, but I think they probably split with Kessey/Day.
Dowdy is a good call for the women
for Ryan, he has better finishes this year, but the tournaments have also been weaker, not as much Phil, Rosie basically died, Hyden/Bourne skipping. Jake and Casey in disarray. Plus there is that epic choke job last week. With Casey and Jake seemingly having gotten their act together, I think the most likely finish for Ryan and John is two 3rd, then he basically had a slightly better year on a much weaker tour.

Good points across the board. I think these last 2 will add some clarity on both genders. I wish something was at stake, I'm kind of psyched about who these winners could be... so different than last year April/Kerri 7 for 7 & Jake / Casey 4 for 7.

Also, I'm still bullish on Dowdy - just think McGuire is not an elite defender, so that's held her back.

My comment on the Dowdy comment, she was playing w McGuire because she lost with Nicole and got dumped, which is part of the bad year. Good call on Casebeer

Not sure two events gets the kids a rookie nod, especially while still in college and on a very limited schedule. Although last seed in qualifier to semi-final in NYC was pretty exciting.
If they had a rookie team both might earn it with a few more quality finishes, but if you compare the two's total game skills there is a clear choice today, imho.
Biggest loser of the year: The players. The prize money, sponsorship and general career planning opportunities is so weak athletes might as well move on to "real" money making careers.

This is an interesting year for awards as top players have been sparce at events and quite a few partner swaps in the mix.
Team: Women - April - ahe wins it solo? Branagh/Kropp - seem to be making a push and dependent on the final 2 with finalsh finishes and another win could take it down?
Men - Tough one? Casey/Jake - good early, but nada as of late in. Phil/Nick - Finals and big MB win, but will only have 3 tourneys played of the 7. John/Ryan - Consitent final 4 team and a win under their belt, but think they blew it bigtime last week by not sealing the deal.
Rookies: Women - Hughes/Claes have to be in the mix forbwhat they have done. Cant think of any other womens team that has had an impact like them this summer?
Men - Page should be front runner. Think he's made every main draw after starting in quali this year and a couple solid finishes. Taylor is a solid player, but has had one good tourney and followed that up with an egg in weakest field of the year. Not sure he qualified early in year either prior to his brother bringing him in?

I think Page is front runner too, but he did not play any Q this year. On the Women's, the only other one having success are Kelly Larsen and Betsi Flint. They have slowly improved each one they've played. Misssed Cut in NOLA, 9th, 7th, 5th.

Well, Now down to 1 tournament.
On the Men's side: Bourne/Hyden get their name on the winner's list.
With Nick and Phil in Sochi this week instead of HB, It's down probably to Jake/Casey & Ryan/John. One team leads in $$ & points, the other in titles.
Taylor Crabb probably pulled ahead of Page for good, in Rookie
Kolinske for MIP?? Maybe Trevor Crabb?
For the Women: Assuming Ross/Fopma go for HB, it's theirs to lose. Top 2 seeded teams get a miserable 5th & 9th respectively. BOO.
Larsen / Metter Flint go undefeated, beating the 2, 3rd and 4th seeded teams. Their finals opponents beat the 9th, 6th and 5th. This should wrap up the rookie honor for them over the College kids.

Where do Larsen/Metter Flint look in the next couple years. People on this boqard were saying arsen was new to sand and they weren't a threat in their first tournament, but they have got better every single tournament. They are both only 23 years old. Is this a team of the future for USA and can they be legitimate in FIVB?
