This is starting in 2 days as well! How does this work now that Serbia has qualified for the Olympics? Do teams get to qualify via this tournament? www.eurovolley2015.eu/

No. The European Olympic Qualifying Tournament is in the first week of January, 2016.

. . . just like the NORCECA tournament starting this week is not directly an Olympic Qualifying tournament, although the top 4 teams will go to an Olympic Qualifying tournament in 2016. Others have asked logically why these continental championships are not also OG qualifying tournaments in this year. Not sure I know the real answer to that one.

I think this tournament will be more competitive than the World Cup. Serbia, Russia, Italy, Turkey, Poland and the Netherlands. Also, Germany isn't so bad as well. Can't wait until it starts. It sucks that more European teams can't qualify. Can you imagine if Russia beat China in the World Cup? Then it would've opened one more space for another European team.

But if Serbia has already qualified, why are they still playing in this?

The European Championship is NOT an OG qualifying tournament, that is why. It is simply the continental championship.

Yana Scherban is injured and may join the Russian team later in the tournament. So the Russian girls are back to the 3-player passing rotation. Kosheleva isn't passing too well so far.

Poland nowhere near as good as they were in the very distant past, down 0-2 to Netherlands.

The last 4 remaining teams are Russia, Serbia, Netherlands and Turkey. It will be Russia vs Serbia for a re-match of the World Cup in which Russia was up 2 sets and then lost in 5. Also, Netherlands vs Turkey. WorldofVolley.com consistently puts live links and updates online if people are interested in catching 2 very competitive matches!

I think we are agreed, right?
