Impressions: The Penn St libero sucks. The Nebraska freshmen outside hits cross court seam every single time.. Courtney is a baller, without her Penn St. is at best a top 20 team The lady color commentator was refreshing to listen to, her vball IQ is top notch.. Nebraska rarely ran the middles in front of the setter. Penn St sets are mountain balls to the pins... Both teams are very beatable.. The libero is a true freshman who so far has only lost one game to a top 5 team. I'm not saying there's not room for improvement (and she had a poor game against Nebraska) - but "sucks"? Get a grip. Take away any of the top 10 teams' best player, and that team is "at best a top 20 team." In fact, PSU probably would fare better than most other top 10 teams in this scenario. Not exactly sure what point you're trying to prove there. And every team is beatable. Before the loss everyone was saying PSU was untouchable. They sweep 11 of 13 matches, and lose one 5 setter to a top 5 team, and now the sky is falling.

What is it that people think they are seeing that involves "missing leadership" on the court? Or is this something people think they are seeing off the court? I wonder whether what is "missing" might better be described as "communication" rather than "leadership"? Against Nebraska, there were multiple plays where, to my admittedly unschooled eyes, it looked like players lunged for balls that ricochet ed off them and out of play, when there was a player nearby who seemingly might have been able to handle the ball (or the ball was on its way out). Doesn't that sound like September/October volleyball for a team that has a new libero, primary DS and setter? I'm sure RR doesn't allow any excuses for experience but floor coverage is one of those things that improves with time. But you're right about leadership, between Courtney and Washington and Whitney, and contributors like Kendall Pierce, I don't see any shortage of leaders out there. The tentativeness is just new people and returning players in new roles. Paterno used to say, youth is a disease but we all know the cure.

League is brutal this year, and they have had Nebraska, Minnesota, and Wisconsin at home to this point. I can easily see the Big champ with 4 losses or co-champs with 4 losses. I say No team has less than 2 but probably 3
