Whatever. You obviously have lost your brain or you are just plain ignorant. Bring it on.

This is an interesting thread discussing some important topics. Let's keep it civil.

With 200 responses to an incident where only one person has the actual facts, does anyone else find this thread a) Impressive; b) Disturbing; c) Amusing; d) Amazing; e) Tiring; or f) Inspires thoughtful dialogue?

To those who complaint that this thread is getting tiresome, old, suspicious blah blah blah...I have suggestions to make, don't click on it, don't read it, it won't do you any good. Save yourself from the madness of ambiguity and the idea that our culture andour own people could be prejudiced and that we have a lot to learn about treating others who are different no differrentry than treating our own kind.
I don't know the OP, I don't really care about Duke University, what happened between them doesn't affect me personally. Buy I empathize with the OP trying to gather suggestions and thoughts from others regarding what happened. It's not like the OP is bitching about it here on VT and not doing anything else about it.
I am also unsatisfied with the OP failing to clearly state what were really said or yelled at the match, but unless he threatened to hurt somebody or harm the university, I don't think it warrants the treatment. Given that the OP is aware of the prejudice that the society might have against people like him exist, I would think he is smart enough not to draw any negative attention to himself.
I believe going to the media would be the absolute final step. Just me sure you have looked at everything else you could to resolve the issue. But the university most likely will not take what happened seriously unless there's a story some where on the news or social media.

I'm always a little suspicious of the "victim" of some type of punishment crying foul. More times than not, when all the facts come out (and that won't happen here), I usually walk away feeling the "victim" deserved what he/she got. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Not making a judgment here, but that is the case probably nine times out of ten.

Could also be the case that whoever accused me of whatever was accusing me of something that never happened crying foul play and playing victim. That also happens frequently.
The closest I can give to documented facts are the correspondence I received from Duke which is posted in this thread. People will clearly see that Duke even refuses to give me their version of the story. That gives me more reason to believe they are trying to hide something.
I'm not looking for 10 million dollars. I didn't even care if they said never come to Duke volleyball matches. They implied I can't set foot on the campus again and I have to try and get refunds on purchases from there.

Walk into their campus police dept or whatever office has been corresponding with you, bring a friend with you, have a phone or some digital camera rolling, politely ask for the reports from the incident, continue to ask for the reports until they give them to you or have you escorted out. Do not get argumentative, stay calm, and if you still do not get the report, post the video on facebook, twitter, etc. and begin talking to a lawyer and local news station. If you have a 'middle-eastern' look to you, they will eat that up. Being Duke they really can't claim that it was inappropriate fan behavior. People who have watched Duke basketball games would laugh at that statement. Them saying you can't step foot on campus makes it sound more like they think you are a terrorist.

Probably not good to compare behavior at a Duke volleyball game to basketball. Basketball games sell out and the behavior of an individual barely stands out. Most Duke volleyball games, especially in the time frame just before this post have an attendance in the 500 to 800 range.
One Duke volleyball fan yelling negative comments about one Duke player, especially if he's apparently sitting near where players' families sit, is going to really be noticed.
I'm not suggesting it should be illegal for a fan to do that. But perhaps it's not the smartest thing to do.
"Hey, I'll sit near the families and be, most likely, the only Duke fan in the building, berating the home team. And then, after I get the stink-eye from some of the parents, I'll just hang around near the players and parents after the game."
Again, not illegal. Also, not smart.

Campus police/ event security personnel should have let him know right away not wait till way later. Plus, he should have be given a warning first. This is not North Korea. I blamed this on thin skinned players and coddling parents.

touchline do not PM me any more. Do not drag me into your situation. Stop crying here on Volleytalk and take this problem to Duke, to the media, to lawyers. You are jerking us around. So BOO HOO..............GO DUKE!

It's bothersome to me that, if this is such an important development...now tinged with racism...why has the OP chosen as his source of recourse a volleyball message board? I'd also like to point out the thread title. Initially, he just referred to 'a large D1 university.' Then he eventually posted that it was Duke. Now he has added DUKE UNIVERSITY in all-caps to the thread title. I've asked twice now if he could elaborate on what he means by being 'a bit vocal.' And exactly what it was that he said or yelled. But no response. To me, this thread has become a trash-Duke thread with the OP refusing to talk about precisely what he said and did. If this was my message board I'd deep-six this thread. I couldn't agree more. He refused to provide his exact wording and something just isn't adding up here. You could be more suspicious if he could remember the exact wording... he wasn't approached until well after the match. Which of us would remember what we said during the match?

I have no dog in this fight other than curiosity on the course of this thread. But he does state in the original post: "I did see a few parents glance over at me. Didn't think it was a big deal." That seems to be a key piece of information that people are trying to figure out as it seems to be what started this supposed road he is now walking down.
