Tonight, Nebraska coming off this scintillating 5 set match VS PSU just may be bit on the worn down side. This will be a good barometer for the Husker conditioning program. (Repost) Nebraska prepared evenly for PSU and tOSU. Cook explained how the Nittany Lions are surprisingly easy to scout and felt confident that the team focus half their week of practice and preparation for the Buckeyes. My guess is that tonight's match will be illustrative of the depth on the Husker bench. they have the same prep schedule each week. They start off week preparing for their second match, prepare for upcoming match towards end of week, re-visit 2nd opponent day of.

These are two well-matched teams. On paper Nebraska has the edge, but conditions are as favorable as they're gonna get for tOSU to upset. Should be a fun time.

As I said in the PSU/Neb thread, I was not that impressed by Neb offense last night. They won by playing tenaciously on defense and exploiting PSU's back row on serve receive. I don't think OSU has the same weakness, although they also don't have a lot of the other strengths that PSU has. If OSU keeps their heads and has one of their good days, I can see them winning this. If OSU have one of those error prone performances like we saw against PSU last year, Neb should win easily.

I know, but I'm also making reference to the way the Huskers prepare for teams in the B1G versus in the Big XII. The preparation for the Texas-Texas Tech series was nothing like the way the team now dedicates weekly practices for PSU-tOSU, Minnesota-Wisconsin, Illinois-Northwestern, the Michigan schools, or any of the other series in the B1G.

When I think of tOSU, I picture a team that plays resiliently and exemplifies the next-point mentality well. Their players also like to keep a faster cadence to their matches. In years past, they would jump back to the service line and have the ball served out of their hands a split second after the up ref blew the whistle, which caught not only Nebraska but other teams' back rows off guard.

Nebraska's defense and serve game was MVP, I agree, but give Nebraska's offense a little credit. They had 12 kills in set 5. It takes more than just receiving a free ball; the Huskers put the ball away when it mattered.

Then you should have been even less impressed with the PSU offense since they hit for a lesser percentage for the match than what Nebraska did. PSU was ranked 2nd in the country while Nebraska was ranked 8th in the country hitting.

Thanks for letting me know the positions that all the player play on the only volleyball team I follow religiously Edit: It's also not about overlooking, but more an emotional letdown after a tough and grueling match the night before. It's also not super easy to get from campus to campus and back to back nights will wear the Huskers down. They've been prepping all week for this weekend, not just for Friday. Traveling can be tough, I agree, but I don't think it will affect the Huskers that much. They'll be ready to go. They have a long day before the match starts at 7. The match starts at 6 pm CST

It's lost on some people that two quality teams typically force each other to play below their statistical standard. However, be kind to Badger fans. They're waking up to the realization that the best setter recruit of the last decade (or more) will graduate without leading their program to a national championship. Therefore, it's reasonable they'd want to focus on other programs' flaws for emotional reprieve.

As I said, Neb exploited a weakness in serve receive that made PSU's offense sputter with poor sets off the net. They also played tenacious floor D which put pressure on PSU to get kills, and PSU seemed to start pressing when the ball did not get to the floor. That is how they won - by pulling PSU's offense down to a level they could compete with. I agree that Kadie played well from the 3rd set on, and the offense got better as the match went on and seemed to open up as a result, with Hall, Fien and Amber chipping in. Foecke still has too many errors for me, but she is a frosh and that should improve. It was never really that smooth though, and never that deceptive. There is a lot of room to improve. I think this should be a good team building win for the huskers though, because it was definitely a team effort. EDIT. Actually, now that I think of it, that last bit is what husker fans should be most happy about. That resilience was not often evident last year. If they can build on that, Neb should have a very good year.

I vote that you should start not only every OSU match thread, but every b1g thread or every match thread period.
That is all
