What would be different about assistant coaches posting here and other college needs lists like at prepvolleyball? A need is a need and whether you are looking for a freshman or transfer you fill it.

But I do agree the thread is less interesting hearing their needs and not discussing unfounded rumors about Ebony and Brianna

This actually is all good information for the fans of volleyball so that they now understand who has no clue on how to recruit and what programs to send the kids too. Think of it this way, would you now send your kid to Eastern Michigan when they are openly looking for anyone on chat thread? There is no doubt that this is the craziest thing going on right now and the fact that people are now putting their names on it is even more absurd.

A lot of coaches at all levels read this forum. If a club coach has a former player contact them who is looking to transfer, this is a great place for them to look to see what is available. It's one stop shopping for a lot of information. Same thing goes for athletes that post their information for coaches on here. They get a lot of feedback, simply because the readership is pretty big. Stuff happens. Programs have last minute needs and changes to their rosters. It's unfortunate that you don't like it, but that's just too bad. When programs have needs to fill and there are kids available to transfer, this is a good way to get all the information in one place. And it's far better than pages and pages and pages of speculation like it was last year.

Think of it this way, you walk into the A.D.'s office after the season and she asks, "Why did you go 14-16 and what are you going to do in order to get above .500 and make a run at the NCAA tournament?" You reply with, "Well I am looking for a transfer on volleytalk." A.D., "Oh good! So you are making the right move by hitting up an opinionated chat board that mostly has fans on it. I will now cut your recruiting budget in half since you are relying on others to do your work for you and there is no need for you to travel that much this year." Think about how this looks!!!

Is there another platform to connect transfer players to programs that are in need? If not, VolleyTalk may be the best option available. I doubt the coaches or the players find it ideal.

So we are too guess this is how coaches go about getting transfers? Now I have to go back through the thread last year to find out if Cook has a screename and he was shopping around for Holston! Listen to yourselves!!!!

I will now cut your recruiting budget in half since you are relying on others to do your work for you and there is no need for you to travel that much this year." Think about how this looks!!! I'm going out on a limb here and saying you aren't a coach. There are hundreds of college coaches and thousands of high school and club caches that frequent this board. I am going to guess that the "fans" you're talking about aren't going to respond to the postings, but the people who this pertains to find it useful. Sorry you don't like it, but get over. If they're talking to their AD, and he asks what they're doing, my guess is that they are letting him know they are putting the word out looking for transfers since they graduate 6 players from the previous coach's recruiting and don't want to tie up six scholarships in the next class when there aren't a lot of uncommitted seniors that can help their program. You assume this is the only thing they are doing, not just one of many things, which includes calling club coaches, talking in their network of college coaching friends to see if anyone has a good kid who is leaving (wants to be closer to home, wants a smaller/bigger school, etc). Oh, and by the way, John Cook wasn't looking for "Holston"... so far as I know, she is still playing at Florida. But he did get Briana HOLMAN. You can think it looks poor, but the people who are here looking for kids and leads on athletes that can help their program appreciate it and will continue to use it to get the word out, regardless of what you think.
