I've changed my mind.
Best team for this regional--because irony is what it's all about--is not USC. It's Hawai'i.
Seattle regional--Washington Minneapolis regional--Nebraska (With Minnesota there, of course. And Pavan, of course, will knock us out.) Green Bay--Hawai'i. Louisville--USC.

That would be an easy trip to make. If Hawaii thought going to Tulsa or Reston (is that where La Tech is located) was a tough trip, they have no idea what they are in for. I think Green Bay in December would be a good thing from the Wahine; travel to foreign countries has to be an experience. Also, someone might want to tell them that, contrary to what those in the movie industry would have you believe, it is not nice or pretty that time of year in Wisconsin. Maybe the hosts could all buy them beautiful Packer parkas to wear while they are there and keep as a gift when they return to the islands. They should be somewhat at home, though. I think that more people wear green in GB than even in the SSC, although they accentuate it with an ugly gold. Ugh.

I heard the state of Wisconsin produces at least 25% of all the cheese produced in the country. That's an astounding number.

Back to the topic though, I would HATE to see Hawaii at Wisconsin Regional because then there would be NO way for any Hawaii fans to make the trip. Seattle, however, that would be a great one! Give Hawaii a chance through Washington.

Well, sure. But then you're wishing them a seed lower than #4.
How could you?
And what d'ya mean no Hawai'i fans would make the trip? Never heard of dogsleds?
(You just know Packer fans would go to Honolulu if the Packers were in a StuporBowl there.)

Seattle, however, that would be a great one! Give Hawaii a chance through Washington. Hawaii has gone through some tough areas before and the fans have always followed. Wisconsin would be harder to get to than Seattle and more fans are likely to make it to Washington, but there will still be some good representation if Hawaii ended up in Wisconsin. It's going to be hard to predict who will end up where. Hawaii is still an odd wild card in terms of seeding. Even if they go through the WAC undefeated, their RPI isn't strong enough to really give them an advantage. The only top 10 team they have beaten is UCLA. The other teams Shoji scheduled didn't really hold up to their preseason ranking. Arizona has been inconsistent. Pepperdine didn't even hold up in the ranking. Hawaii has some nice wins but may still end up as a second seed in a region and that may put them anywhere. It may be like 2002 where strength of schedule will come into the decision of the NCAA commitee.

As of last week, Hawaii's RKPI was #1. www.richkern.com/vb/rankings/RKPIShow.asp?VBYear=2004&week=4-Sep+27It's a very accurate simulation of the NCAA's RPI system.

according to rkpi...they are #1 at this point in the season. who knows how long that will hold up considering the competition in the wac...but in the past i feel like they've played a similar schedule and managed a top four seed despite a loss. if by some amazing miracle they do end up undefeated by the end of the year (which i don't necessarily think is a good thing for them), then i think they'd get a top four seed, especially considering i expect washington, usc, texas, nebraska, minnesota, ohio state, and penn state all to lose at least one more match in their tough conferences...
i don't think they'd deserve a #1 seed at this point, but maybe with time they'll start to learn how to cut down on the mistakes and keep opponents from making runs at them enough to start dominating...

You're saying that Washington is that strong this year and will go undefeated in conference? Did I say that? When? I do think Washington will be a top 4 seed. And they HAVE already won both matches of the toughest road trip in the Pac10. But I don't get your question...

No worries about GB – we will be welcoming all friends of vball no matter where they are coming from. Free gloves, extra socks – everything will be taken care of. ;D BTW Resch Center hosts WI HS State finals every year, so if you guys happen to have a few days to spare you may come earlier – it will be a nice warm up.

I don't think the cold will bother us-at least not during the matches. Shoji has been to plenty of snowy final fours in his time(Cleveland was pretty damn cold though probably not "freeze the foam cheese wedge to your head" cold). Also, not all of these kids are from Hawaii. Hittle is from Colorado, Prince is from Washington. They can at least instruct the other Wahine to start bringing heating blankets and gortex. It will hurt them but if they get a #1 regional seed up there, I imagine that they'll defend it. Who'd be number 2? (why isn't Texas a top 4?)
Also, Hawaii fans will crawl through hell to cheer their teams, especially if it will help them make it to Long Beach. Didn't a number of Hawaii fans travel to Nebraska? Also, thanks to years of recession and expensive COL, there is quite a bit of Hawaii fans in the Midwest(I know a few in the Dakotas-burr)
