For the record, Texas isn't as good as Florida. Texas is better.

To clarify my intro to this week's poll. It is clear that we have VERY differing opinions on some teams. For example, Nebraska has votes ranging from #2 down to #9 Hawaii has votes ranging from #2 down to #12 Penn State has votes ranging from #4 down to #11 Colorado State has votes ranging from #5 down to #18 Ohio State has votes ranging from #2 down to #12 Texas has votes ranging from #2 down to #14 Stanford has votes from #7 to not being included on two ballots. interesting ..... This proves that voters should take a competency test before they are allowed to vote.

This proves that voters such take a competency test before they are allowed to vote. I don't see that as the case. I think the differences reflect how differently Americans see things and value things. These differences are more representative of the views in the US versus the collusion of a few individuals. I should also note that through all the differences, everyone still agreed on who was the best right now with all first place votes going to Washington. Just like the US, everyone's voice can be heard in this poll if they just take the time to put their thoughts into a ballot and send it in. One exception, ALL votes will be counted :-) and the popular vote wins! No electoral college here!

Wow, Gator you were really impressed with Texas. I watched that match as well.....absolutely no doubt who the better team was. Florida was a little disappointing as I thought that they were definitely a top 6 team before the start of the season....not sure that they are even a top 10 team after watching them play...

It's not!!! What would the creators of the constitution say. As Jus4me28 said, it is just point of view, everybody voting is expressing their own opinion, not some homogenized blueprint like I don't know ...ESPN. I don't see that as the case. I think the differences reflect how differently Americans see things and value things. These differences are more representative of the views in the US versus the collusion of a few individuals. As long as there's an NCAA tournament at the end of the season that determines the national championship on the court, I will not vote in any polls, nor give deference or attention to any polls that purport to rank teams.

So for the whole season's efforts by 317 Division 1 teams, only one team is deserved recognition? I don't think so. The poll gives recognition to at least 40 other schools throughout the season and gives coaches something to present their AD's to keep funding/etc.

That's exactly why the polls exist, to provide some kind of index for the fans and programs. What Wolfgang believes is that as long as they play out the national tournament, he doesn't rely on polls.
Heck, I think sometimes the only reason we have polls is to give newspapers and sportscasters something extra to talk about.

I also don't know yet if Texas is as good as Florida. Excuse me. You still don't know if Texas is as good as Florida? Texas spanked Florida (should have been a sweep), and has beaten 3 top-25 teams, while remaining undefeated (14-0 now). I think you just don't WANT Texas to be as good as Florida. What does it take? Regards

I think you just don't WANT Texas to be as good as Florida. What does it take? Regards I ranked Texas higher than almost anyone ranking teams--this entire year. I still want to see more before I'm convinced Texas didn't just have a great match and Florida a really poor one. What will it take? Wins on the road--at TAMU and KSU. Heck, I want to see how they do @ Missouri and Colorado (20-18 in the 5th at home, btw.) And I want them to be competitive @ Nebraska. But you're wrong if you think I'm rooting against Texas. I rooted for them LAST year. Why? Topic and Howden. (And long-sleeved jerseys.) As for Gator, I think he is like me: sometimes no one's tougher on the home team than their own fans. And, on the same topic, I want to see OSU win on the road before I'm convinced they are final 8 caliber.

By the way, I have Texas ranked higher than all 3 polls at the top of this page.
1--Washington 2--Nebraska 3--USC 4--Minnesota 5--Florida 6--Hawai'i 7--Penn State 8--Texas 9--Colorado State 10--Ohio State
11--UCLA 12--UCSB 13--Santa Clara 14--St Mary's 15--KSU 16--Stanford 17--Texas A&M 18--Cal 19--Long Beach State 20--Utah
Regards (right back at ya),

I think most responders probably place Florida above Texas, but I cannot understand why. This is not last year's team (Florida or Texas), and to rank Florida above an undefeated team that won convincingly against them (in the Gator Swamp) reflects something other than the facts. Texas may very well fall to TAMU or K State or someone else on the road (Florida and Kansas were on the road, and top-25), but now is now. These rankings are now, not the Novembe 27 version.
