CSUN about to go up 2-0; that's it, it's hopeless.

If you want to talk about a rough drive, Northridge assistant John Price commutes from Bakersfield. yeah, but he probably doesn't go in rush hour - you can make that drive in less than 80 minutes and we know who does all the Central & NorCal recruiting for Northridge 80 minutes? With no traffic, no cops, and in a Formula 1 race car. That's a 150 mile drive one way.

Who is to blame: New Coach? Old Coach? Bad recruiting? Lack of Talent? Are there any signs of hope for next year? Does anyone know if they have any difference making recruits coming in? She lost a ton of talent from last year with no time to recruit quality athletes. I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt to see what she can bring in next year. Heck, their best player is clearly the middle Thomas who transferred with her from her old school. Why aren't all those Fullerton recruited before outplaying her? Maybe she should have brought more of her players with her.

Northridge is at the north end of the SF Valley & volleyball coaching isn't a 8-5 job - he doesn't have to go thru greater LA - gets in at 10/11, leaves @6 or so - flex schedule plus there's a convenient In-N-Out in Newhall

If I'm doing a road trip up north, I can get from OC to Buttonwillow in 2 1/2 hours without pushing it too much.... And, of course, the usual caveat about leaving at 5 am yadda, yadda, yadda.

I go up to Bako 4-5 times a year, and it's a very, very good trip if I can get there in less than two hours from Hermosa Beach. And I have a very fast car.

There are two winless Div. I teams in the country; one from the MEAC, the other has a head coach that came from the MEAC.

The discussion is about Bakersfield to Northridge. That is under 100 miles. You might be thinking Bakersfield to Fullerton for 142 miles.

You are exactly right - I assumed from the thread title the discussion was about Fullerton. This is Volleytalk, never assume. No wonder ccman thought I was out of my mind. Bakersfield to Northridge is certainly a relatively easy trip, as long as you don't mind a complete shutdown at the Grapevine now and then.

Someone want to explain why Fullerton is having so many troubles? Previous coach was not retained, followed by a mass exodus, including Big West All-Freshman Niki Withers (who is now at No. 2 USC). Current team has nine new players. By the way, Fullerton blew four match points against UC Riverside earlier in the season.

Those players all went to top teams across US (cumulative 99-23, many ranked one time or another). So there went the talent. Bottom line is school does not support the sport and with it being surrounded by top clubs and HS, you would think the connections would be tighter but thats not what is shows. Previous staff and team had some foundations but in typical VB fashion, over reaction killed it all to a rebuild.

No kidding, some of the schools players from last season's team ended up at: Arizona, Pacific, Tennessee, USC.
