Where did I say Hagglund coasted? She was an excellent passer and defender at USC. Actually, while Hagglund was excellent at everything else, passing was her biggest weakness at USC. No. It was serving.

The quote was made by a Texas fan. Not saying I would take Strickland over Hagglund but I love the way Strickland plays. She has a ton of heart and is fearless. I guess I just prefer a libero who is a superior passer and defender, but to each their own. Please tell me that last comment was a joke. Cassie is great but she could not even wear Natalie's shoes.

We all know Carlineeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! will be first team. Does anyone think another setter will make 1st team? Ainise Havili, SSS, and Aiple all come to mind. Does anyone think one of these will? Someone else?
Thoughts?

Does anyone know how much weight is placed on NCAA Tourney success deciding 1st, 2nd, and 3rd teams?

Does anyone know how much weight is placed on NCAA Tourney success deciding 1st, 2nd, and 3rd teams? It's clear that there is a lot of weight placed on tournament success for NPOY. But I don't think there is nearly as much evidence for tournament success determining the AA team makeup.

Someone else? Thoughts? Bugg probably wont now after her last performance and Stanford falling short early. Bugg might even be demoted to 3rd team now. If they end up awarding SSS NFOY (which they might since Hodson fell flat towards the end and Stanford is out) I could see her getting First Team AA. I could also see Lauren Carlini being the lone First Team AA setter this year.

Hodson finished the year with 3.82 kps on a .261 hitting percentage. Also had .34 saps and 4.52 points per set. I don't know if/think Stanford will get a first team all American this year. I think SSS gets NFOY, not just cause Hodson's team was knocked out, but she is a really good player. Interesting how SSS, though not as highly touted as Poulter, has been able to set her team to this level.

Historically, freshmen setters have almost never been listed First Team.

Historically, freshmen setters have almost never been listed First Team. You can drop the almost.

If I had a dollar for everytime a player rated lower had a better freshmen campaign or even college career than a player rated above them, I'd be rich.

Considering how everyone hyped Poulter and didn't think SSS or Minnesota in general would be this good, I found it interesting how things turned out. I never would've guessed Illinois would've struggled as much as they did.

I will say that Stanford's early exit does make it more likely that SSS will be national setter of the year. As for 1st team? She has a shot, but Minny's team hitting percentage isn't exceptional, and per the stats, she doesn't do anything else that distinguishes her (serving, blocking, digging)

I think Carlini, Havili, Collins and probably Bugg (still) would be above SSS on the AA pecking order, so 1st Team is unlikely.
Santana's a lock for 1st Team and the Tapps & SSS get spread across 2nd and 3rd in some unpredictable order.
