This match is such a question mark for both teams. Which Husker team shows up? The one that played almost fearless on the road or the one that at times has looked timid at home. Which Penn State team shows up? The one that can just blow you away with their athleticism and power or the one that struggles to ball handle and defend?

Late start it seems.
Should be a great test for both teams.
Both of these teams would be my pick for last teams standing of the B1G teams and maybe the nation if they stay in separate brackets.
Both teams have had their ups and downs but are built (player wise and coaching staff) for a deep run.

This match is not short on motivation. Nebraska's setting, ball handling and libero should prevail.

This match is not short on motivation. Nebraska's setting, ball handling and libero should prevail. Penn State also has much to prove. Will the changes in the lineup, and how they've played last two games, carry forward to this game, and prove to them they're ready for the tournament? They were flat against Minnesota, and that's probably why Russ put Pierce at libero. I think PSU will be very motivated tonight.

This match is not short on motivation. Nebraska's setting, ball handling and libero should prevail. On paper, I would have to agree on a point or two, however things may have changed. Let's revisit this after the match. This match is arguably filled with more "want and need to (s)" than "have to (s). If that make sense.

Nebraska is clicking and plays great floor defense and has good blocking across the front. Nebraska is at home which also gives extra advantage. Nebraska 3-1
Although, if the changes PSU has made shores up the passing and floor defense then PSU will have a couple more matches (early first round games) to improve and will be very dangerous in tourney.

It will be an interesting match to watch, but I have no real rooting interest. I have great respect for both programs, but I don't like them.

Housekeeping: Nebraska wins and they'll likely get the #4 or #5 seed. If they lose, they'll probably get the #8 seed.
*Would almost prefer a loss to face Texas in tourney instead of likely 4/5 match-up with Washington or Wisconsin.

View AttachmentOn behalf of all the visiting teams parents , we would like to thank the Nebraska Cornhusker Athletic Department for their "Mid West" treatment. Unfortunately, that's what happens when athletic departments' primary derective is squeezing out maximum revenue. Comps take a back seat to paying customers.

for those who are interested, we've posted a match write-up on DigNittanyVolleyball (with a nice statistical analysis by 8M). Here's the link: #7 Penn State Takes on #4 Nebraska in Devaney Center (w/ 8M’s Stat Analysis)And here's an excerpt: The #7-ranked Penn State women’s volleyball team (26-4, 15-4 in the B1G) has dropped only four matches this season, but one of those losses was a five-set shocker to Nebraska in Rec Hall on October 2, 2015, in which the Nittany Lions took the first two sets, 25-12 and 26-24, then dropped the next three — 14-25, 20-25, and 11-15. Coach Rose described the match this way: Coming out of the break, we did a similar thing as happened last week. The other team played really well and we weren’t able to defend what they were doing. . . . Their hitters were taking good, aggressive swings. They did a far better job of getting their kids ready to play than I did. You can play well and lose and feel good about how you played. . . . I didn’t think we were great in the first game. I thought we competed pretty good. They didn’t come out of the gate real strong, but they got stronger as the match went on and we didn’t get stronger as the match went on, and that’s the results that you’re going to see. We didn’t hold our home court like we should. The results are a reflection of how we played and how we coached, and that’s part of the equation. I thought they did a better job in all aspects of the game, especially serving, passing and competing. It was disappointing to sit there and go through it, but if we learn a lesson from it, then that’s fine. But if we continue to repeat it, then we are what our record says we are. Both teams undoubtedly have learned lessons since that match. For Penn State, the Nebraska match was the first as a starter this season for 6-1 So. Simone Lee. Against the Huskers, Lee registered 7 kills and hit .038. Since that match, she has shown steady improvement, starting each of the 17 matches, registering double-digit kills in six of them, and is now hitting .273 in B1G matches (4th on the team) and averaging 1.91 kills/set (5th on the team). Sr. libero Kendall Pierce registered one dig in the first match. Against Northwestern on Wednesday night, she started her second consecutive match, totaling a career and team-high 12 digs. 5-8 Fr. DS/setter Wilma Rivera didn’t play at all in the first match against Nebraska, but has performed well in a string of matches, including Wednesday night’s sweep of Northwestern, where she finished with 8 digs (second on the team).

On behalf of all the visiting teams parents , we would like to thank the Nebraska Cornhusker Athletic Department for their "Mid West" courtesy. Quality seating!!! Remind me exactly why they should cater to visiting teams parents. I get that parents are eager to watch their daughters play but if you want a good seat go watch your daughter at her home gym. I see no problem with this. Want a better seat purchase a better ticket seems to me the solution is simple.
