What's pops out to me is how "Southeast heavy" that committee is. Auburn, AUB, Southland, FSU, Arlington. And what is the rationale for a quota of 50% administrators? Texas is really big, but I don't think Arlington, Tx could ever be classified as Southeast. And 8 of the 15 Southland schools are either in Texas or Arkansas, again stretching the definition of SE a bit. Of course, to many anything east of the rockies is considered a conspiracy against the west coast. Maybe that advanced placement geography class needed a new map or a better instructor. I was thinking more geographically. As far as 50% administrators I am on board with you. I was thinking geographically. It's interesting how poorly the Northeast and midwest are represented given the numbers of schools in those regions. Also, being originally from Texas, I understand that culturally Arlington is not "southeast." However, I think of Arkansas and east Texas as part of the Southeast, so a lot of those Southland schools fit that description.

If you fought for the Confederacy, we can call you Southeast.

Jokes aside, I've always found it bizarre Minnesota only has one D1 school. What are we? Wyoming?

There is a Minnesota State now. D2, however.
They are the Indoor Voice Eagles, however.

Talk about lack of respect ... no SE team has ever won an NCAA Championship. Nine different champions West of the Mississippi and only one in the East. It's time ... let's rise up!

My first post after being too lazy for (four years?) to register to say anything interesting. So- drum roll- here it is!
Instead of (or in addition to) dividing the selection committee by geography and the like do it by groupings of RPI. In other words, let the programs that rarely make the field of 64 also have a fair say in how "their" tournament is populated.

They somewhat do that by promising 6 of the 10 spots to representatives from FBS conferences. These conferences have more money are are the best conferences in most sports. (Big time basketball-centered conferences like the Big East, WCC and A10 are the ones that are somewhat left out)

When I picture a VT representative on the committee I think of someone with multiple-personality disorder who insults everyone else and goes off on tangents on the topics.

Damn. Call the border patrol. Two schools in North Dakota are trying to cross over into Minnesota. It's marketing. "Come to NDSU (or UND): Conveniently located near Minnesota." That's the best they can do. It's just like a Bimbleman's 6 Pack: 5 bottles of Bud Light and 1 bottle of Bimbleman's [jingle] "Bud Light's the one for you and your honey...but every once in a while buy Bimbleman's 'cause we really need the money!" [/jingle] A few more years of the oil boom and it may start being the other way.

Huh? Representation is based on number of schools. There aren't a large number of schools out west, especially compared to the east. Image credit: RichKern.com It amazes me how many schools of higher education there are in the Southeast and yet so many of those state are the worst in general education in the country.

Image credit: RichKern.com There is no way there are 300+ "diamonds" on that map unless there is overlap on A LOT of them.
