For a brief moment I wondered what it would take to go to this, but flights to Lexington were about $1000 and nightmares of multiple layovers. However, it just now occurred to me that I know there are non-stops from Seattle to Cincinnati, and that's only about an hour drive to Lexington. A person could take the redeye flight Friday morning, rent a car, and be checking into a hotel in Lexington probably by about noon. But I now have other plans for this weekend, so that remains idle speculation. Can't you just borrow one from your company....they have plenty.

Catch the Huskies' loss on Friday and then take the redeye home that night. You'll still have all of Saturday and Sunday.

Anyone know of any Seattle-area sports bars that will be showing the Lexington Regional matches? For Friday, they'd have to put up the ESPN3 feed. Would beat watching it on my laptop.

Yep. Along with some committee members included, it will be around 35-40 students rooting on Ohio State in total. We'll make it nice and loud! Might be more Huskies fans there than Buckeyes fans. And hypothetically, 35-40 students from Block O would still be considerably louder than the 100 old folks who made the trip from Washington collectively, though this probably won't be the turnout. The buckeye faithful will make sure Ohio State has a makeshift homecourt advantage against a really big opponent on Friday. Hopefully it helps a little.

10 years ago I flew to Houston and drove to College Station when UW was playing in the regional there in front of a smattering of fans. Of course there was no TV or streaming of the regional, so I had an easier time justifying the expense. Plus I worked in a business trip to Houston to help out..which I can't do this time.
I think I'll just take a day off Friday and watch a lot of volleyball on ESPN3. But if a sweet airline deal pops up before Thursday, I may change my mind.

Washington is a strong squad, but flying 3 time zones east and playing Ohio State and Nebraska on back-to-back nights is a tough task. Hawaii seemed to okay with a little longer trip.

Getting to join the team for the dinner between matches is one of my treasured volleyball fan memories (thanks, Morrisons for including an unknown fan). Didn't make Austin though. Like you, I have to skip it this time. #glued to the screen. Redbeard, let me know if you find a tavern covering the game. Didn't the Ram at U Village do that some previous year?
